Easy, make sure you're not an employee with your side hussle! That's how most of us do it anyway.

    Is this enforceable?.

Sometimes it's easier to beg for forgiveness than asked for permission...

If you can do it without them knowing and isn't a conflict of interest to their company then do it. No stupid employer should be able to keep you shackled in chains forever.

Gotta say though, if the person is running a side hustle from the employer's office during work time etc... employer could get a bit miffed!

Its a policy so as an employee it applies and the side hustle I am thinking is not conflict of interest as totally different industry and I won't be doing during my job working hours. It be after or 90% on weekend.

Then go for it. No employer has the exclusive claim to your time outside work hours.

Yes, sole trader or a company, for example.

If it's something you are doing in your own time, and not something that is a conflict of interest, I'd do it anyway. If they get narky about it, you could always say that it's not another job, it's just your hobby.

My workplace has a similar policy. I am lucky enough to have a good relationship with the boss and they are happy as long as I do it respectfully and it doesn't impact my 9-5.

They also know that I'd do it anyway....

I think it is mainly to cover them as if issues with performance etc.

But I am proud to say, I am best in what I do as I luv it but everyone is expandable so just mindfull n considering the potential impact

I thought covid had killed it for a moment. Then it was like someone turned on a tap, then a hose, then a fire hydrant!

Didn't sleep much during March or April, slept a little in May, this month is full on, July is booking out ......

    I've stopped advertising.

Still keeping the 9-5 at this stage as the benefits are great...and I work with lovely people. But it's nice to know that I have a genuinely solid backup plan should I need it.

I launched a second business in January as a side hustle. It's doing really well and a new market in Aus which is really exciting. Still not super consistent in terms of sales but lots of return customers and given our products are cheap ($15) I'm really happy with the overall revenue and progress so far.

It's a hobby really... But all my hobbies seem to turn into businesses, I'm an all or nothing kinda gal. ;)

It's e-Commerce so completely different than finance - I just see it as another way of investing my money and diversifying into something I understand.

I have a similar story - started a side hustle a couple of months ago, which started as a hobby but is now morphing into a slightly more legit project. My product is about $60 and very niche. Hardest part is not overthinking everything and not letting it consume me too much!

My hardest part is to not let my house look like a drug den - our product is coloured acrylic powder and legit looks like packets of coloured crack :D:D:D

I once had a recruiter tell me that I was unemployable in my profession as I had side gigs to fall on and if an employer decided to play hardball and expect me to work long hours on short notice I'd just walk away. He wouldn't put me forward for jobs because of this. So yes the shackles are what many employers want.
