Hope so. Thanks for being positive about it. I really am a bit torn. It's always better once the move is made. Will see if it's worth buying anything when I get there.

It's got to be an easier move knowing you have your own place to go back to if it doesn't work out. That's what I always think anyway.

Yeah it is. I have a little 2 mornings/ week job here now which I might not be able to get back once I leave.
Agh, this is very first world problem stuff. Maybe this is the Gen X predicament - not used to handling such high order problems. Things going too well = stress.

Well that's a bit different if you have a cruisey job you like and can manage financially. That's definitely a dilemma. The p/t gig with a bit of reno/investing would be lovely but then I 'm not big on careers. Now I'm confused as well :)

I think we should stay out of this, Wattle had probably decided what was best before we dived in :)

That's right. Can't compare. Parkes isn't like that at all. I taught a lot of the ruffians and feel safe here. On the other hand, WW has some great looking antique shops and cafes.
5 or 6 times the size too.

Never thought I'd say this, but I've come to like the bricks! So I'll be leaving them as is. They are surprisingly easy to paint, too.
From what I've heard they were hand made in moulds, like you say. Apparently, there used to be some kind of incinerator or something here and they'd get some of the ash from there. They seem to be a real mix. Definitely old style with lime, sand and other organic stuff thrown in.

Why not ? If you buy in a very select part of Ashmont you will have people help you with the tear down :p

My definition of a project is ..... get an agreed buy price, get under contract, settle and advertise as available on day 1 with the tenant coming in 1-2 weeks :)

Back on track with the bathroom. Parkes is renovation central right now and getting someone to do the work has taken a lot of time, effort and perseverance.
Just to recap, here are the pre-reno photos.

And then it looked like this for ages.

Meanwhile, some during photos of the yard with new fence and baby snow pears - minus a lot of concrete from the olden days. More plumbing, planting and lawn TLC required.
