One of the ugliest facades won. Ridiculous imo.

    Which did you like?

Josh & Elyse - those columns are ugmo. Yuck!

Ronnie & Georgia - the dark colour has an impact but those tiles were too much!

Clint & Hannah - no pink door. Yuck!

That leaves Jason & Sarah and Sticks & Wombat. They were both ok. I don't know which was better.

I thought the whole point of putting brick piers at the front of a californian bungalow was to dress up a basic weatherboard structure with some thing fancy - i.e. It isn't there due to style, it is there to enhance - they failed big time.

Mate tbh with you i dont like any of them..im a modern/ contemporary person but i know they had no choice. With sticks and wombat i just dont like those 4 wooden posts. I know R&G tiles are over the top but i don't hate it either...hands down J&E were the ugliest for me.

R&G front façade was worse than I though it would be.. combined with their monstrosity pool, I think they have undone a lot of their good work, the front and rear yard it quite polarising and may hurt their sale price.

J&E - it's a shame they built those pillars. Perhaps on a much grander house where space isn't an issue, but in this (narrow) house they're way too overbearing and ugly. If only they spent the money on a bigger front deck..

For me the winner was J&S. Very elegant.. the art deco doors that were restored came up a treat.

J&S the villains of the block, who don't deserve to be there, will come very close to winning it I reckon.

I hope not, I feel they don't deserve it.

I was thinking about this while watching the series. There would be no depreciation on the house frame - that is still x amt years old. And is it considered a new build? Was the house purchased prior to 9th May 2017? Does it count from when they purchased the house or when the house was put on the Elsternwick land? How does the ATO treat 'the house' in this situation?

I'm not too great at Maths so my figures could be out.

They paid 10.3 mill for the site - 2.075 per house for the land.
They said they 'rescued the houses' - not figure quoted for whether they purchased or were donated the homes.
Average 2.16mill in depreciation over the life of the home - so site plus home = 4.2mill and they are expecting them to sell for 3mill? A great lesson in overcapitalisation.
How many rookie renovators would get sucked in by this and find themselves in a world of financial pain.

And - the show says they are sponsored by Beaumont, Mitre10, Reese, Freedom etc. Can they clarify what sponsored means - the teams get vouchers. Did the companies donate the vouchers? If so - how can the home owners then claim depreciation on items that were free? If CH9 did pay - then I wouldn't think that they'd pay RRP.

Anyways - I'm looking forward to seeing the auction results.

lol. The biggest botched up auction I've seen. Sticks and wombat almost beat R&J? What a shambles. If i was J&E buyers I'd be so ******, the other buyers got a steal or J&E buyers overpaid imo.

Nail biting stuff indeed. And for anyone doing the math about what the land cost, what the houses cost, etc... I would guess most people would know that this show is not meant to be about making a "profit". It is all about advertising. If it was meant to show any profit, the show would spell out cost bases etc.

There are enough renovating shows out there that do spell out purchase price, costs etc that I'd hope anyone watching this show doesn't think it is a masterclass on how to flip houses.

Botch up is right. Ronnie and Georgia should have been third. Sticks and Wombat robbed them by taking 3rd spot.
