They often do... I'll be getting a $30k bill shortly for sealing about 80 meters of road in front my property.

but that the reality of commercial decision, they made infra structure for the mass and try to recoup the return on investment, the bush unfortunately have to suffer and it is up to the government to fund it.

NBN should just run fibre for the bush and leave the cities to private operators

Same rules apply to NBN then. Paid through taxes and internet service subscriptions.

It's core infrastructure, just like roads or ports. Half arsed solutions as proposed by LNP should have never been considered or implemented.

I've had one tenant charged >$12k for a fibre service in the suburbs of Sydney.

It was also offered by NBN. Those who wanted an upgrade to their connection could do so at their own expense.

What's the upgrade to a road - tarred & feathered?

And they don't build a freeway to every house.

I was following your road analogy to point out that the road analogy doesn't stack up.

Fast internet isn't a road, so what governments do or do not do with road building is completely irrelevant.

No analogy is perfect. Point is, we could have had a forward looking network but got a half arsed POS because of the LNP.
