    The Magic Bank Account

Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest – a magic bank account.

Each morning your generous bank would deposit $86,400 into your personal account, provided you adhere to the following competition rules:

    • Everything that you didn't spend during each day would be taken from you.

    • You can’t transfer money into another account – you can only spend it.

    • Each day, the magic bank account is refilled with another $86,400 for spending.

    • The bank can revoke the prize and end the game without warning by simply closing the account.

If that happens, you can never win another prize – that’s it, game over.

    What would you do?

You could buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself…….could you?

You would try to spend every dollar, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished the next morning, right?

Confession time – no bank is ever going to play a game with you like that. But you know, you are in this game right now………..and it is real!

Each of us is already a winner of the prize. We just can't seem to see it.

    That prize……….. is time.

    • Each day you receive 86,400 seconds as a life gift.
    • When you go to sleep at night, any remaining time for that day is gone.
    • What you haven't used up that day is forever lost.
    • Yesterday is forever gone.
    • Each morning the account is refilled, but the your account can be terminated at any time, without any prior warning.........
What will you do with your 86,400 seconds?

Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars. Think about it and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think. Make every moment count. Start now, don’t wait, not even a minute.

A last thought for you – Seize the day, then relax the grip a little, and enjoy it.

Come across this before but still always great food for thought.

Need to spend at least 21,600 sleeping.

Right now I'm spending the rest on work and stressing out on other stuff. Thank you for the reminder ;)

I heard something yesterday about an experiment that was done over 3 months where there was no access to a clock or any way to measure time.
Because of this, all the people who were part of this experiment only slept an average of 4.5 hours a day.

Did these people also need to do work during the experiment?

The problem with these sorts of psychology posts is they make you feel guilty that you are sitting around doing bugger-all...like; unless you are doing something constructive with every second you are wasting time and being lazy/unproductive.

    SHUT UP, WILL YA'S? :p

FWIW - I think they are wasted on this forum; everyone here is an over-achiever and a doer.

    I'm a little disappointed Rick.

First we're talking about money then it's all about time and how valuable it is.

I'm gonna go and watch a few more hours of television thanks.

    Thanks Rixter !

I have been especially thinking about my life and how little time we really have as we will be losing a loved one shortly and this really does change the way I look at each day.

What a great way to explain the gift of time. If you had $86400 to spend every day you would make sure you spent every bit of it that you could but when it comes to time sometimes we may take it for granted and not realise what a gift time really is.

After a year I would get sick of spending the money.

I'd just keep buying gold with the surplus every day, so when the bank account suddenly gets stopped one day, cash in the gold when required.
