If you read the web site below, maybe Microsoft will have a few headaches in the next couple of years, especially if someone makes a complaint and the US Government take some form of action. They did that before and forced Microsoft to separate Internet Explorer from the Operating system. If that happens whatever hits the fan will splatter here as well.

Maybe this is a reason why the Indian Government has dropped Microsoft Windows and products for Linux 'Boss' written and produced by them. That must be going to cost Microsoft a lot of money in lost profits. That's not you or I backing out of using Microsoft products that's a whole country, and a big IT user at that.

The practice of invading Joe Blow's legal rights seems to be being practiced in this country by other agencies as well.

Big brother is arrogantly recording how many times you change your underclothes. But for what reason and do we really care, apart from them taking your house, car and your financial capability for the rest of your life, for some minor indiscretion ?. The bits about other people being able to sue you if you use Windows 10 is a bit alarming, in this Yank style litigation active era.

    Food for thought.

Love your work brother, this is one of many reasons why I stopped using Microfault after 20 years.

I was told that even after doing so, data is still being sent to Microsoft  I've rolled back to Win7 but apparently recent updates have introduced the same data collection and tracking features as Win10. Might have to switch to Linux/Ubuntu...

Do you think it's worth upgrading form Dos 3.2 straight to win 10? I don't know if my AT will run windows. Any tech able to advise?

You may have trouble fitting the CD Rom into the slot, which was actually designed for floppy disks. You will also need about 10GB of your 40MB hard drive.

Stick with it, probably the most stable thing that actually still works. :p

What happened to your 5 1/4" Floppy?

Totally!, no more, where the friggan *bleep* *bleep* is that device driver.

Once you go Mac, you never go back. :D

I'm on Windows 10 on my PC - not a whole lot different to (windows 8.1 + start menu)

One of the things I like about it, that really annoyed me with Win8 was that apps don't force themselves into full screen foreground.

Most personal data is collected through web browsing activity. Changing operating systems isn't going to change that. You'll make more progress by browsing in private mode with no cookies and locking down outbound traffic on an enterprise firewall.

Other personal data is collected through spidering of content you store online such as Gmail. Google spiders your personal emails to collect usage trends and to tailor advertising for you.

Want to avoid all of this? Don't make use of online services. Don't ever send anyone an email as even if you don't use an email service like Gmail, odds are you'll eventually send something to someone who does.

People often forget this isn't just relevant to your computer, it extends to all connected devices including but not limited to mobile phones, tablets etc etc.

People get so worried that their OS is monitoring their online usage. It's so easy to use an independent browser in a privacy mode with a VPN, it eliminates 95% of your problems. That's assuming of course that you never use Facebook.

Perhaps people should also think about the info they share here. The amount of times people discuss their financial situation here in a very specific manner is astounding.

The biggest invader of privacy of course is your credit card. We conduct most of our financial lives through these little rectangles of plastic, without ever thinking of what all those transactions (specific goods, amounts, frequencies, locations) say about us.
