    Yep.

Every has a different version of cool, and cheap. I want to know what the best combination is, according to you. That's why I asked ;)

The spirit of the question was in second hand cars, but doesn't have to be.

I'm here. Bang for buck and super coolness I will vote for my '72 Karmann Ghia.

    Here's a very nice one for $17k

If you need more hoon power and happy to not keep it original you can put a Subie small engine like a EJ20/25 in it. When my engine dies it will be getting a Subaru engine and probably a new gearbox so I can have more then 4 gears.

The production equivalent to the rally Peugeot 205 t16 is the Peugeot 205 GTi. There is one in gumtree now for $4,300 negotiable. That's fairly cheap for a classic. Looks good too! :)

Did a very quick google... Turbo 1800cc mid mount! Wtf!? That's awesome! All in a shopping trolley! I assumed 1600 but the 16 is valves.
    We have a winner!

I think we only got the GTi here. The one in the pic has a 1905 cc engine. It would be fun. Nothing like the original though.

This one was going up for auction at Southeby's and expected to sell for $350,000 AUD. Definitely not cheap!

Austin Martin classic - any year will do - preferably a convertible. :)

    How pretty is this one.

Open up the dictionary and look up the word "Cool"

Almost undoubtedly you will see a picture of a Porsche 928.

A bit of mambo when you stomp on the loud pedal, great balance, and the aquatic star of Risky Business.

And cheaper than a new Corolla.

    What's not to like?

    Giddyup!

A mate has an 88 928 s4 manual. White black leather. Rear muffler delete. It is incredibly cool.

    How about something like this...
    2005 Custom Clubman Birkin Manual

Super car performance and looks for 1/10thof the price, you can do most of the servicing yourself, you can even build it from scratch if you want, and it even has its own race series.

    Where's peastman?

See. Told ya. Your mate has taste.

And the OP was looking for the coolest car for the least money, but didnt seem to have any sub-clauses such as servicing costs, provisions for cat boxes, self-parking buttons, or tail gate loaders.

All are useful, but just not cool.

Otherwise, why not buy a UniMog?

Ticks all the boxes, appeals to all in completely different ways, commands respect from all other drivers, and is extremely easy to park (especially where you can park wherever you like in whatever manner you want)
