    Usually 94 or 73. Or 33 if I'm hungry.

I think the Checkout should be compulsory viewing in high schools. So much of that show will help open the eyes of new adults as they enter the world of consumerism.

Some sort of budgeting should be compulsory.

Well - not impressed by a single one of those bathrooms. All awful - with the winner being the best of a bad lot methinks.

I agree. I caught some of the 'reveal' episode since I am building a bathroom for a rental. I didn't see anything I liked either. The ads were saying someone spent $65k but I missed that part of the show. None that I saw looked like $65k bathrooms to me. o_O

I can not be bothered with the BS, its massive soapy drama, don't get me wrong, I like a good soapy, but this is so not.

Deco has got to be one of the hardest styles to pull off I think.. The older couple were the only ones to go bold with the style and unfortunately didn't pull it off.. I don't think they should have got the lowest score though.. the groups that completely ignored the brief should have got less than 5's.

Looks like it will be a one horse race - the lady couple (one interior designer) really know what they're doing.. the other's think they can just copy the same style from the block 5 years ago.

Watched my first episode, last night's reveal of the bathrooms.
OMG, the adverts  (like Azazel said pg1)
Sure i get that each season is bigger (trying to be better)
Hence they need to profit somewhere, but FAIL :(
It must be a cash cow by virtue of the number, length of ads and frequency
Sure, if I'd seen the episodes during the week, maybe
Will probably record and watch the reveals from now on, so i can fast forward between ideas and style tips:p
Would be unlikely to buy a "House Rules" house, but find the series better than the modern BLOCK version
Maybe it appeals to people who aren't "hands on" renovators and more cheque book hero's...........

I agree those bathrooms were BAD. What is with the huge bathroom with nothing in it ? All the advertising about the very expensive bathroom but which one was it? It appears the older couple think they know it all. They certainly have NO design skills.

I didn't catch the whole episode, so I thought I just missed that part. Here is the spin:

Why you should watch: Let's be honest, room reveals are the best night of viewing on The Block. One team has spent an incredible $65,000 on their ensuite and viewers will find out exactly what that gets you.
And from "the Block" facebook page:

The Block have been advertising all week about the $65000 bathroom. Why wasn't this revealed tonight? Who spend that much?

That is what I would like to know. None of the ensuites looked like they cost $65k to me.

I do have to admit this is classic styling for a million dollar apartment though ;)

    MULTI Million. Apparently. . . . .

I'll give it to the young boys though. Twas a shrewd move to shift the ensuite to the front to gain a 4th bedroom. Who needs a 7x4m dressing room?

Great move! They just need to learn the finishes required to get a good price at sale. I work in the budget space too, so I would not know what materials to use to fit out a MULTI Million dollar apartment ;)

Yeah I hear ya. But because the building is Heritage Listed they are trying to give the apartments a Deco theme harking back to the 20's when the building was originally built. Sooooo gold taps it is then.

Last night's reveal was an eye opener!!! I am afraid the Older Couple should not be on this show, they have absolutely no idea. That bedspread was a nightmare. The 2 male school teachers are really trying. I am ready to throttle the Female Designer. Fancy hiring her to do a Design. She hates everything as soon as its done. I think all the Apartments are going to need a lot of re-work to get the price they are quoting.

If I was a potential buyer, I wouldn't care about $1 Bic styling. I would be more concerned with that dodgy grout job.
