Yeah, I just had a look at the new one that just listed is $30k cheaper too. If I was interested in both properties but could only choose one auction to attend, I would go to the cheaper one.

Agent got back to me... the other sale is housing comission and the agency has been instructed to auction the property on a particular date at a specific time. It's not negotiable.

My agent and the other property's listing agent have spoken and will liaise with buyers during the campaign to ensure if there is any overlap between buyers that they will be covered on auction day.

I suppose that's the best outcome if you cant change it. Still grrrrrrr

I thought this was some completed product for you, but it's a house?

Yeah, we are selling our Melbourne development site. It was either develop or sell. It's not a viable long term hold. Its a great time to sell over there and we are rolling the funds into the Cloverdale townhouse development.

And next to a servo by the looks. I wouldn't pay near 2 mill for a unit to sniff petrol in.:p

Did you see any of the show? I caught bits and pieces, like where there was water dripping through the downlights. Water in the ceiling, water in the electrics, water in the downlights. IMO that is not at all appealing.

Yes I watch it still. But not religiously. I'm pretty sure the "building fairies" come through fault fixing in the months between filming and Auction and bring everything up to code. I wouldn't pay $2 mill for a build with wet ceiling insulation on top of gyprock, wet electrics, a 3mm gap between my marble skirting and the wall filled with bog or level floors in the bathroom that flood and don't drain properly.

The format now is not as enjoyable. More about the drama than the build. The very early series back in the early Naughties were more "real". Hell I even sometimes used to tape them on VCR! But to keep interest they need to do more cities than just Melbourne all the time (they did a couple in Sydney back in the day too from memory). 95% of the viewing audience would never afford a $2 million apartment in South Yarra. Hence that's why us poor people watch and wait for that Lotto win! Yahuck.

Bring The Block to Brisbane and do 4 builds under 650k each sell price. That would be more real for me. Hell for the price of a single $2 mill South Yarra apartment they could near do a row of 4 houses in Adelaide FULLY renovated with all the bells and whistles. What say you @D.T. ?

Honestly, what is with that? It seems like an obvious thing not to do. Surely someone who does it all the time and is paid money would stop and think to themselves, maybe this photo is a bad idea.

Yea, character houses, especially stone fronted ones with run down internals. Refit them internally and they'd come up a treat.

I'm worried the show would make Adelaide too popular though. Haven't finished acquiring yet ;)

I'm pretty sure you are right about the "building fairies". According to some whirlpool posters, filming wrapped up in August and as of last post, there were still tradies at the site. Of course it's whirlpool, so take it with a pinch of salt. That said, if you look at the completed photos in the real estate ad, it looks a lot nicer than the finish on tv.

I call bs. As if they are going to get potential buyers from the block auction to go to your auction. No offence.

Yes. Let's hype the bejesus out of Adelaide on here, buy up big, then petition Channel 9 to go do Block Adelaide and make a killing. sounds like a plan. :p

Oopsie. Reading fail. My post said "other sale is housing commission"

Unless the block is housing commission, I call bs on your bs. :p

Just to get you up to speed, my agency is selling a housing commission house near my house on the same day at the same time. The other agent and my agent will liaise on the day as we are expecting some overlap with bidders at the auctions. It's not a big deal. They are from the same office of the same agency.

Good idea. I recall watching one of the first one, I think it was Bondi NSW and it was actually very interesting and more technical rather than drama.

Why? Because it would be more attainable/relatable to the average Australian? Let's make it a REAL challenge and make the purchase and reno cost a grand total of 450k and they have to use Bunnings/Masters for their ENTIRE project.

Not at all. Because the motor inn series was boring and I want something interesting to watch :p

I don't care about the rest of Australia, it's all about me! :) ;)

That would be a great project but somehow I think The Block: Perth wouldn't be very popular.
