Anyone else enjoying the show this year ... granted I only watch the Sunday "week that was" and reveal ... but loving that they've gone back to houses, and different eras, instead of same old same old apartments

I'm watching, but on catch up, and not allowing myself to watch unless I'm on the elliptical at the same time... hence I've only seen the first episode so far. :D:p

But I like that they are doing houses too.

Like Lizzie I am watching only Sunday episodes. Also definately better when they do up houses and not apartments.

Will be really interesting to see the selling results when they try to sell in the middle of lockdown.

I watched last night. I can't believe the prices they achieved.

Yes, watched it all on Catch-up. Saw the auction this morning. Loved the houses, and glad they all profited from it, but I really hated the 1950's house that won. My thought is that it's very polarising. You're either going to love it, or hate it.

Caught a smidgeon of it - but turned over when that idiot was bidding amounts like 1,111.18 just to be a dick

I must admit - I turned off the show after the living/kitchen area ... why do the architects design 4-5 bedroom houses and then put in a piddly living area that would barely fit two people.

I also wasn't overly impressed with the styling - I thought it was pretty generic and bland considering they had an "historical" opportunity to do something amazing

$3m+ for a tiny block and refurbished house in Beachside Melbourne - too much pent-up demand.

That idiot bought three of the homes. Very large bids, think he could have done much better for his clients.

That idiot just sold his IT company for $162 million and is putting some of his gains in The Block property. That was his 5-8 The Block purchase. I dont understand his overbidding strategy but we did have the advantage of knowing the reserve price.
I was fascinated by the young lady who just moved to Melbourne from NY and worked for Apple and the UN.
Those two should get there own show.

I know he sold his company for a handsome sums.
But still overbid on TV and being play on emotion for the whole TV to see.
    Flamboyant personality or egotistic?
Maybe I am just a very conservative person and camera shy. o_O

Right! So the purchases were for him, not his clients? I thought he was a BA.

Who in their right mind would use him as their BA? By every auction protocol he overbid!

Are they strata with the private laneway as common property? If they are, he's got a strategic bloc on the OC.

He is a regular at the auctions and somewhat eccentric or on the spectrum. Media reports he is donating one home to a charity (The one by the couple with a sick kid). He also gave Ronald McDonalds Charities use of one he bought a few years back rent free for several years without any media. If you have 166m cash you can do as you like. Whether it cost $4m or $3.4m he probably didnt give a hoot. Ask Dave Hughes. He did the same a few years back without even speaking to his wife while out for a walk.

The funniest thing was the look on the BA faces. One mouthed outloud "what the f...." to another BA which the network edited from sound. Arguably he used a auction strategy that few dare use....at least in the past 3+ years = Go fast and hard and the other bidders will all withdraw. Only one other bidder played his game and was lucky it only cost her a further $2K and she picked up a house she obviously could afford. After living in NY its a spacious bargain
