Found active termites in an external corner of the house today...

What's the best sequence of events/experts to assess?

    I'm guessing treatment first...

    PS

    Not found in the B&P

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the 'Shares for Income' thread.

    Sigh.

Our pest chappie is Wayne Creed 0412 489 710. He will look after you. Tell him who sent you (but he will look after you anyway).

Best way is don't touch them ,just leave all the tracks in place so when you employ someone in to treat the problem they will have a better chance of finding where they come from and where the main nest is,maybe and sometimes it's next door..

No tracks either. I'm starting to think they might be ants.
I pulled off a water rotted bit of wood and found the buggers in and under it. Then into the beam underneath.

Definitely try not to disturb things. You want the pest chappie to be able to see them "in situ". But even if they have been scared off by you moving their "home", a good pestie will either set up baiting stations, or (depending on what he finds - and that can be traces of what was there if they have moved off elsewhere), he will still have a good idea of what was there.

If you found ants, try to get a few into a little bottle for "show and tell" with your pest man.

Just seal it back up and have someone have a look, plus i don't want to cause you extra worry but from experience if they are in one area they will also be in other areas within the house, funny part was when we had a rental property treated a while back, just as the sprayer was coming out he made a joke which way do you want the white ants to go,just could not see the funny as they were coming out from a bathroom pine skirting like water ,good luck..

Too late for the do not disturb thing. The wood came off in pieces.

I'm not too worried. I'm going to knock it down in a few years. Just wasn't planning on doing it this year!

In the mean time, Im just grateful that I'm not aware of it looking like this:

    @Bran

Bran, not a bad idea! Did you see the new approach to combat the crazy ants?

    Cheers

Wondering how that could've been missed in the pest inspection? The roof is one area the inspector can get to unhindered.

Yeah, leave them alone and get someone in, probably want to get rid of them anyway so they don't visit your new place.

I have dealt with Wayne that Wylie mentions, he seems pretty straight.
