Good morning, I am a private landlord and I am wishing to obtain a rental reference from a prospective tenants previous property manager however they are asking me for a signed disclosure privacy statement from the tenant. Can someone please point me in the direction of where I would find a form I can use to have the tenant sign. Thank you in advance.
Hi Skipper - Yes as the comment above states you are best to have the tenants contact the agent direct to advise its OK to pass on their details to you - they will probably need in in writing so email could be best from them. This is a common practice these days as its generally part of the application form that tenants fill out with agents so you will come across this again no doubt! For future reference you could always just create a form/letter and have tenants sign this so you have it next time to pass on for reference requests - I can PM you a brief spiel of what the privacy statement says if you like! Jodi
Fairly normal. Most agencies do. What application form did you use? It should have a spiel on it about privacy that they sign. This is the section the agency will want to see. Alternatively, ask the tenant to ask their PM for a ledger and forward it onto you.
Thank you very much to all of you for your help. I have now got it all sorted. I appreciate your help with this matter.
