Tenant claims water-damaged public housing in Darwin gave her chronic illness

Would anyone know from a private landlords angle ,would your insurance cover you if you were slow on maintenance as there seems to be by reading this..

The investigating committee, which included Liberal MP and CIRS sufferer Lucy Wicks, also called on the Commonwealth to work with states and territories to ensure tenants in public housing, rental properties and aged care were made aware of previous or existing mould and water damage in buildings they were considering leasing..

    No.

Every insurance policy requires you take all care and to maintain the property in good condition.

“Slow on maintenance” covers a multitude of possibilities. As a landlord, you are required to attend to maintenance issues promptly. Obviously the time frame considered reasonable would depend on the issue.

And, again obviously, any issue known to possibly cause health issues, e.g., damp, mould, plumbing/electrical problems etc, should be rectified urgently.

NSW lease (Condition Report) has a clause which needs to be checked
