Which tenancy databases are best, or are they all much the same? The ones I know of are TICA, TRA and NTD. Any feedback?

It really depends on which state you're in. In some states NTD is more popular and in others TICA is more popular. Once people start using one or the other, then it makes sense that others in the area would use the same so that they can capture that information.

Don't forget that there's legislation around doing searches on them and even more legislation around listing someone on them.

I know some people are of the belief that none of them are good (because some don't bother due to the legislation requirements and therefore it won't have the people listed that it needs anyway). In my opinion, it's very important to do thorough background checks.

This is why I'm disappointed about the the "Report Your Landlord / Agent" websites that can pop up whenever they like, they don't have the same requirements.
