I'm not shares savvy- like, at all.

How do you see the share price being affected by expected 5G network rollout coming up and its dynamic with the nbn? If Telstra is less reliant on nbn being a success, and have alternate ways to deliver fast speeds to customers, could this be a factor in a higher share price?

Also Telstra seems focused on expanding into the tech space with their Smart Home product suite, possibly causing it to drop the ball when it comes to service and network performance.

Curious about what you guys think, generally.

I am not either... but I just had a quick look this morning

    TLS hammered....

    Telstra Corporation Limited

Look at the gross yield, nice cash flow play, tempted to park some money here, but I know I wont get the growth??

Come on do it Marisa, do it. Become like the rest of us and speculate. It's just like buying houses and holding long term hoping it goes up. Also, it will be a new conversation starter at your next BBQ.

    General info only comment....

For what it's worth re TLS: there are people in my industry with concerns regarding the competitive environment post the introduction of the NBN. The mobile business is now under threat thanks to the entry of TPG Telecom (ASX:TPM) into the market. The dividend yield appears attractive following the share price fall but we believe Telstra will be forced to cut the dividend. For these and a few other reasons I am remaining underweight TLS for now.

You sold then? It was hovering around 4.4 all day today.

I'm finally even on TLS after value-averaging a big chunk in at 4.00. Happy to hold atm.

I'm holding, my average is 2.80, have held for years current div. returns of 31 cps represents approx 11% and every time I think the sky is falling on TLS they manage to slowly claw higher so for me it's a hold, I'm expecting a div cut moving forward, the amount they cut is anybody's guess

I will sell some at $4.80+ to bring my entry to sub $4. It's only a very small holding. I think div cut, excess monies used to expand and buy back shares.

I guess our gov won't like to see Telstra failing. So it will survive.

Don't forget the franking credits. A 12.3% gross yield.

Who needs growth, the yield is the only number that matters! 12.3% gross yield, just pretend you don't lose money until you sell :p

Grrrrrrrrrr..... I cant do that, I would be thinking about the money I could have made on a growth share with a decent yield.

I wonder why Telstra shares are on the nose, why they have not performed.
