    Hi there,
I had my tax return done last month and a draft was only sent to me last week. From date of the appointment till when I received it was over 3 weeks. I had a face to face appointment but in the end I emailed it through to them instead. Income / expenses were all ready to go in a spreadsheet. Return included PAYG, two properties and CGT event details which had already been sent to them 6 months ago for an initial assessment.

Does 3 weeks to process seem too long?

3 to 4 weeks is standard turnaround times for most practices. If you need it expedited ask if you can pay a premium for it to be processed faster.

I imagine last month would be busy time for majority of tax accountants, specially for the good ones.

No matter when I get all the info to the accountant, it usually gets processed around March. Having a business, that's around the cut off time. He usually prioritises those who need it done sooner.

If your advisor promised three weeks then your happy.

If they promised 8 months your ecstatic.

If they promised 4 hours you are furious.

You charge a higher fee to leap frog others ??

We try and assist if people are going on leave etc but dont charge a fee. I dont feel thats right. We have a great system for logging work and try to leave work as first in, first out with accomodation for individual needs

Yes we do. Many service providers have a premium for changing the process. It usually involves burning the midnight oil or taking away private time and replacing it with that urgent matter. That time is being compensated. No matter how good ones system is for workflow management you and your team only have limited time available.

It must however be for something urgent e.g an urgent finance application etc. Its not just to be number one. That i agree is very unfair.

It depends on if you owe money or if it's the reverse :p
