Tags are a way of marking content with specific topics, for example this is the link for the tag for "Strathpine".

    strathpine | PropertyChat

If you open any thread with tags you can then click on one of the tags to find other discussions on the same topic.

You use it to show what your thread is about.

One or more tags can be used to assist others to search for content specific threads. eg CGT, The error message is very clear if you dont enter any tag. And if its truly unique you can create a tag. Problem is when users create loads of silly tags or misspell them it makes a LONG list to scroll down. I think Simon tidies it up at times

    I think its quite practical.
