Its a worrying development but not unexpected by anyone who gave this any thought.

Exactly. If I'm not mistaken I think in the 90's, NSW Police/Feds also had a task force to hit the Asian gangs in Cabramatta. I think the operation was called 'Coltsfoot'.

The only story about banning Christmas was (surprise surprise) a Herald Sun story from 2010 about a school having the christmas play and attendance as being voluntary.
There was more than just one situation. I recall a few years back Christmas decorations and music playing though out the place was removed at Bankstown Cento because the customers found it offensive whilst they shopped.

Yep; I find Xmas carols a bit hard on the old Athiest ear from time to time, but I let them play on.

Some are actually not too bad; I sing "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells" (amongst other cutsie songs) to my 3 and 5 year old every night after stories at bedtime.

And THAT folks is the entire difference with whole argument about catering to the whinging and self-centred Muslims who are very intolerant..... yet I get called the bigot.:p

    Indeed..
I don't like Christmas carols either just as I don't like children's music and today's silly pop music. That doesn't mean I demand where ever I go that it is turned off. I just shake my head and get on with it.

    Not really.

They were removed in 2001 after a decision in 2000 to stop them from happening to save Lendlease money.

Miranda Devine wrote about it in 2004 http://www.smh.com.au/news/Miranda-...sive-secularism/2004/12/08/1102182363720.html

saying that the new owners had just invested in $200,000 in new decorations and no Muslims/Buddhists etc were having a whinge.

Slightly sweary blogpost about it. https://icrusade.wordpress.com/2012/05/03/how-the-muslims-never-stole-christmas/

Come on Andrew; you're an intelligent guy.

Do you really believe this was the actual reason?

More like; this was the Party line when asked why...

Could you imagine Lend Lease responding with; "We took down the deccos and music because the Muslims were complaining it offended them"

I wish shopping centres would not play Christmas music either. Especially any more than two weeks prior to December 25th. Straight after the school holidays we will be subjected to more commercialised "religion" I mean "season" at the shops. O Puke.

Shopping centres are an assault on my sensory organs enough without any more noises

I thought places ban christmassie things in order to not offend the Anti-Christians. These are the ones sitting around the workplace/sportsclub/camping ground etc moaning about how awful Catholics (JWs, Mormons etc) are, and how we should all become Buddhists (Wiccans, Rastafarians etc).
