Turned 37 and for the first time in my life, I can see a few grey hairs. My world is crashing around me. I know, first world problems.

Embrace the grey - don't try to cover it, as the coverup rarely looks good

When I was about 45 I had grey hair starting to show up beside my temple (think George Clooney). I read that if I plucked them out with tweezers, smeared honey on the area, the hair would grow back my original dark hair colour.

I was not convinced, but with just a sprinkling of grey back then, I got my youngest son to get them with the tweezers. It was kind of fun. He thought I'd gone crazy, but did as asked.

It doesn't work (just in case anyone decides to give it a go). :p:D

I found my first grey hair at 18. Blonde streaks fixed that.

I get anxiety and rapid heart beats if magnesium tabs are taken daily.

One of our local dance studios is doing Ballet for Seniors classes. I am seriously considering this, although I haven't talked to the teacher yet, or my podiatrist.

It sounds great, though I hadn't heard of this before.

Learning new skills is great for keeping the mind active, guarding against the deterioration of the brain in older years. It promotes fitness. As we get older, falls start to become a danger - this sort of activity helps to protect against falls in future years. And it promotes bone strength.

This is apart from the social aspect.

    Go for it!

    "Authors' conclusions:

It is unlikely that magnesium supplementation provides clinically meaningful cramp prophylaxis to older adults experiencing skeletal muscle cramps. In contrast, for those experiencing pregnancy-associated rest cramps the literature is conflicting and further research in this population is needed. We found no RCTs evaluating magnesium for exercise-associated muscle cramps or disease-state-associated muscle cramps (for example amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neuron disease) other than a single small (inconclusive) study in people with liver cirrhosis, only some of whom suffered cramps."

Supplementation is one of the biggest misconceptions in current day society. In most cases, it is simply a waste of money and probably puts unneeded strain on the body(liver, kidneys).

The are some good cases for it like taking vitamin D in winter, or when on a diet (vegetarians), if you have food allergies...

But generally speaking, a good balanced diet is all that is needed unless recommended by a doctor or having some special requirements (pregnant woman)

Good in theory - but studies have shown that the nutrient load of modern fresh fruit and veges (force grown) is a mere pittance on what it used to be. Agree that a diet needs to be well rounded, with lots of fruit/vege but it ain't what it used to be

I was going to link a technical journal - but the NatGeo is easier to read

Fruits and vegetables are less nutritious than they used to be

Very interesting read, thanks for that.

I guess a way around this would be to load up on veggies as they are not that calorie dense. Also, i would think that organically farmed veggies wouldn't suffer from this as much as the commercial ones.

So I take a concoction of Vitamin C, E, D3, Magnesium, fish oil tablets and B12. No basis for 'needing' any of it. You suggesting I should just ditch it?
