Sydney winters aren't terrible... though I'd rather be in Brisbane during the winters, that's for sure. Perhaps for May to the end of August.

Well done @Dan Donoghue!!! Still remember the previous post from you couple of months ago about your desire to move!!! In a position, where I can move to either Adelaide or Canberra and still maintaining my 'mainland salary' as well but the biggest block to this goal is the significant other. I think the saving grace is that she is making more money than I am and probably more levels to climb the corporate ladder. At least, I can be a trophy partner!!!

It is possible to opt out of Sydney winters! Move overseas where it's hot & humid every day of the year! Or move to Brisbane or NT, warmer than Sydney for sure.

It's May! Winter doesn't start until June.

20170506_174311.jpg i was in shorts when I took this image tonight. Also earlier today I was walking by the Bay out in Sandgate. I wish I had taken a photo of the beautiful sun. Sydney means nothing to me in winter. In summer Sydney is very nice

Is it possible for you to take your annual leave over winter? That helps soften the blow.
I've lived in Melb my entire adult life (3 decades)...my rule of thumb for our winter is pretty much Anzac Day through to Melb Cup day!!. We have good days of course, but overall it takes a noticeable dive for pretty much 6 or so months of the year.
So, I reckon Sydney would be not too bad.

    IMG_4313.JPG Not a bad weekend.

This is another reason hard to completely ditch Sydney.

I am sitting in Melbourne, with a hot water bottle and wearing a woolen thermal and a fleece jacket.

Sydney winters are lovely by comparison.

I thought Sydney winter was fine, used to swim at Tamarama beach every day before work even in the middle of winter.
In Zurich used to walk to work in the snow and -20 sometimes, was nice though if you dress for it. The summer had days in the mid 30ś, so a wide yearly range.
In Boston I used to drive to work, sometimes snowing and -30, that was not nice. Plus you have to dig out the car and get the ice off the windows with a scrapper while your hands freeze up. In the dark.
    London .. a bit miserable.
Barcelona .. just right, a bit like Sydney but slightly cooler winters and hotter summers.

    Talk about first world problems.

Move to Finland and get back to me. You might also try South East Asia during summer and let us know how you feel.

If anyone can find a more comfortable overall climate than Sydney please let OP know.

It's like saying my Ferrari drives too fast and I get scared.
