You won't be disappointed Leo, it's reasonably priced and super tranquil outside of peak holiday periods. One of my all-time favourite parts of Australia and I've been lucky enough to see most of it.

Myself and my better half stayed at the HM about 6 months ago. The views and the restaurant were excellent, but we found the accommodation wanting, with no aircon and a room that you couldn't really swing a cat in. Which was a shame given the truckloads of money spent on doing up the Hydro Majestic...
And particularly given Lillienfels was the same nightly rate.

A much better, but lesser known choice would be Parklands (see Parklands Country Gardens & Lodges ) about 5 minutes or so drive up the road in Blackheath.

Disclaimer: I have no association with any of these businesses

I reckon those guys that took over the hm would have had a hard time trying to get it up and running! Took about 2 years longer than the grand re opening sign the they put up . And i also heard it wasn't quite complete and lacking in some areas. But that view!! :) i had lunch in there when it was fenced off a couple of times.

Does parkland have the views? Very secluded little spot but i don't recall it being like the other 2. I put the sewer in the next block over and didn't even realise what it was like in there!

    Hey Leo.

Can highly recommend Bermagui /Sapphire Coast for a get away. Best beaches (empty also) and plenty of things to do. We were the best kept secret up until recently but this changing.

    Mick.

@Mick Butterfield We actually have passed that area but more inland, we didn't have the chance to go closer to the coast, we were going to Melbourne at the time. We must go back and stop at those places! I do remember passing through Tilba Tilba and thinking what an amazing little place! I think..there was also an ABC cheese factor there...

@Leo2413 there is the ABC factory in Tilba which is a great town. That is where the River Cottage Australia show is filmed. The whole area has really kicked on in the last couple of years as the economies diversify away from fish, milk and wood. Can definitely give you some pointers if you do come down this way.

Thanks mate, when we head down I'll definitely chase you up for some pointers! Will be interesting to see how things have changed, but I remember the drive was quite relaxing, beautiful hills.
