How about choosing one of the 1,588,578 other threads saying the same thing and positing in that???

"After the gavel fell, the agents managed to get the bidder up to $1.67 million, but it was still a way off the $1.75 million reserve."

1.67m bid with 1.75m reserve, $80k difference is "way off"???????

    Author is an idiot

Still seems way too much for a suburban place like that so far from the coast

The family paid only 5000 pounds for it originally.

Ps. Now that it has been made into an article, I think they'll get good money for it. It's advertising.

    What absolute crap!!!

The results of one auction/sale does not dictate how property in a city is going.

I go to auctions regularly in Brisbane every Saturday. I was at one last month with 6 registered bidders.

The property was passed in at $2.0M. Apparently the reserve was $3.2M. Shortfall of $1.2M.

I did NOT leave thinking “Brisbane is taking A pounding”.

I reckon all these threads about house prices dropping are being started by the same person with different usernames. What purpose does it serve other than some sorta self-gratification or something?

Mods - can you not delete such threads or club them into a - bought at peak/naysayers thread - or the like thread?

There is a lot of threads on Syd, but hey, he did not write the article.....

People used to pump the positive, surely the negative has to be allowed ?

I attended 4 auctions in North Ryde area today. All houses. All passed in. The first one had only 1 bid of $ 1M. (100k below vendor bid). The other three had no bids at all. Even the last one had no one registered.

The auction performance has been poor for some time, many vendors may still think they do not have to meet the market, or not sell ? Maybe agents are still not telling them the full story.

They inherited the property, ie it was free. They rewired, repainted and polished the floors. What, $20K?

    Dummy-spit.

They can be happy that their family home isn't in any other city where it would have sold for even less.
