I'm guessing the venues won't be asking for proof of vaccination.

So it comes down to people complying with the rules?

They are supposed validate vaccination status alongside the QR code checkin system.

    Are these measures Sydney "Centric"?
A bit rough if you have to be fully vaccinated to go into the Pub in some regional areas where the vaccines were diverted to Sydney.
Quite likely also that the bar person isn't fully vaxxed either.

How is it that Sydneysiders from LGA's of concern, can do day trips to regional areas (Shoalhaven, Kiama), that have not reached the 70% target from Monday the 11th? Has the Government really thought this through? Are they simply trying to appease those who claim to be lockdown weary?

    Think you misread the above...

Sydneysiders can travel within Greater Sydney, but not to regional area's

*edit: just heard on the news that people will be able to "day" travel to regional area's, but not holiday/stay overnight.....
Agree this is questionable, lets hope our numbers continue to fall quickly

Well. Appears the new premier et al have tweaked the roadmap out, purely to be seen as a "tweaking the roadmap, I'm in power now" stamp

Chief medical officer, teachers federation, AMA and most locals are not happy ... why bring things forward a week here, and a few days there, and risk moving to quickly?

I've got to say that I'm not a fan of the new Premier.

Yeah, this is a bit ridiculous. Day trips are a perfectly adequate way to spread COVID - no need to stay overnight. Also makes it impossible to police.

I'd like to see vaccination rates in NSW broken down by LGA. I'm sure there are plenty of regional LGAs which are NOT at the 70% double dose mark.

Sydney day trips 'a disaster waiting to happen', South Coast officials say

The regionals are very angry about this - it's how we got the virus in our areas in the first place

From ABC News website: Live: Victoria unveils plan to bring international students back by the end of the year

Regional NSW residents won't be able to travel to Sydney

Earlier I touched on the confusion about travel between Sydney and regional NSW.

Yesterday a statement from NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole's office said Sydneysiders were allowed to travel to the regions for day drips when rules relax on Monday.

But he's now said that's not the case.

"It is a little bit grey at the moment where people think they can do day trips.

"It will be cleared up today very clearly to say black and white, that you can't go from Greater Sydney into the regions and you can not go from a regional community into Greater Sydney."

New premier of NSW is letting it rip....he is no Gladys. I can't stand him..... I reckons n cases are going to go up before it goes down.....hopefully no more lockdowns just before Xmas. Dumb move in my opinion.

I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on hospitalisation data in NSW (and VIC) for the rest of the year as we start to open up.

Cases peaked in NSW on 10th September

    upload_2021-10-8_10-7-0.png

Hospitalisations peaked around the 18th September (based on the 7 day moving average - which isn't represented on the chart below)

    upload_2021-10-8_10-11-3.png

I'm not sure if deaths have actually peaked yet - but hopefully we've seen a peak on the 2nd October

Once we start to open up again, we should expect cases number to spike - and we will see hospitalisations rise as well. The key will be to see how high they rise (and especially patients in ICU) and how much deaths follows.

That businesses need to re-open is somewhat understandable, but to remove the mask mandate within indoor work places in 2 weeks is pretty dumb. We know that work places are the biggest seeding grounds. If people think masks in an air-conditioned office are uncomfortable, they need to experience the gear that nurses wear while having to lift and turn patients over.

This guy is bad news for NSW.

Ha ha. More like 1499.784 :) - actually that’s not accurate, 1499.784 is 85.8% of total population, not 85.8% of the over 15’s. so somewhere between 29 & 1499!

More seriously, it demonstrates how numbers can be misinterpreted. Eg ACT’s case numbers don’t seem “bad”, because we keep hearing about and are subconsciously comparing to NSW and Victoria. But per capita, they are still numbers of concern.

My wife comes home with red marks across her face and nose when she's been in PPE all day. She worked a 25 hour day earlier this week (fortunately not in PPE the whole day).

Also - ventilators are even more uncomfortable than face masks!
