What are your thoughts, do you honestly believe that the NSW Government can get the current outbreak under control in the proposed 2 weeks ?

Chatting to a few people they all believe that due to how easily the Delta strain is transmitted the current lockdown will be extended, the question is by how much ?

Current guess is 4 week minimum, but based on Melbourne's lockdowns it could easily run to 6 weeks :(

It will take almost 2 weeks before we see community transmission numbers reach a maximum, then another 2 weeks to get back to near zero, all on the basis that people do the right thing

Have already seen kids dropped off to neighbors for kids play date (while parents head off to work ) today, while yesterday 25+ groups of strangers walking down our local track for "exercise".........

I'm more inclined to put it down to the incompetence of the population.

Now when those who complain are elected and then required to make decisions of this nature, I'll be more than happy to throw a few brickbats their way due to their incompetence.

I am pretty confident NSW will have it under control within 14 days even if we see massive numbers coming this week. Under a lockdown, virus can’t spread if people are following the rules.

I am a bit concerned about other states specially QLD because they aren’t in lockdown so any community transmission may still be happening.

I do not understand why they have not organised a watertight border and quarantine system. They should be throwing everything at it. Even if very expensive, its cheaper and more desirable than lockdowns.

Even undr a lockdown so many seem to think their day to day won't make a difference, until it does, hence how the lockdown started ..

Big "IF" judging by the amount of people out and about in the suburbs today

Treat it like a short term trial at retirement
Sleep in most days, watch the mid morning tv shows, ponder lunch until it's after lunchtime, look at all the jobs you should/could do around home, watch the 4pm news and start pondering dinner, go to bed by 7pm :D;):)

Good to see "most" people using the scan in at most venues again

A consistent, coordinated, and considered approach is driven by the government, not individuals. There has been ambiguous instructions and suggestions in managing the virus by both state and federal government, with inadequacies and incompetencies relating to vaccine rollout.

I will credit NSW with very good track and trace procedures - if these were implemented Australia wide, I think state border closures would not be necessary, and it could have been a much more precise lock down implementation.

More than 6 weeks quite possibly. I would have thought 13 weeks might be possible (3 months).

Federal Government incompetence on border controls, quarantine and very slow vaccination roll out.

NSW State Government incompetence on limo driver and frontline worker regulations, Ruby Princess, Avalon cluster, etc

In Newie, hubby's work has asked for staff to start working from home tomorrow onwards (otherwise they have to wear a mask in the office) ... not sure how I feel about that ...

When I am retired I will go to the mens shed, university of the 3rd age, play group sports. This would annoy me as a retired person also. Not in a PPOR though right now otherwise yeah I would be hard out renovating something.

On the one hand, people have become complacent due to the low number of cases.

On the other hand, the government hasn't really pushed it. Many governments in other countries have had strong vaccination campaigns to ensure good take-up rates. Our government isn't shy of advertising when they're promoting their own achievements or agenda.

The government fell way short of vaccination targets they had set for themselves.
