It really is madness... its closer to Homebush station than Strathfield.

Saw an RP data blog today, Sydney now has more suburbs with a median of over 2 mill than suburbs under a 600k median...

    "Affordable entry into Strathfield"

Strewth... I'd hate to see what an unaffordable entry into strathfield looks like.

I've been pretty bullish on Sydney property for many years (still am with this sale :)) BUT even I am awestruck looking at this result . Great time to be holding Sydney property :p

As a non-Sydneysider I find these tales insanely intriguing.... $2M is enough to retire on comfortably (be financially independent) nearly anywhere else in the country.

About to sell one we have held for 12 years - hope things continue for another 3 weeks.

Why sell ???? Over exposure to the Sydney market where we have already "made enough".
It is a bit ridiculous to have 30+ years salary invested in a single market - no matter how good that market is perceived to be.

Like to scale back/cash in a bit and move in to other markets (actually have done that a bit too much already).

Hoping to get some help here, I am willing to spend around $1.5M and looking to buy a house in Sydney. I like Glebe and around there. Also Kengsington and around there. Would like 3 br, green title. Could do a terrace style house but wouldn't want a shared wall.
Any areas experienced Sydney people think I should be looking?

Not too bad. House up the street (barely liveable) sold in Mar 2014 for 1.8m
That said it was a 900sqm block, but given how much price shave moved during this period, $2.075m isn't a bad price.

This other place sold for $3.175m on the same weekend

I'll comment on your property search separately but first:
There is no green title in NSW.
Terrace style houses generally do not exist as a stand alone but more typically in a row with others sharing a common wall. There are some minor exceptions.

What is the equivalent of green title, ie I don't want a strata. Yeah I've seen a lot of terraces with common walls, seen a few that haven't though (or thought I have).

Yeah, I think they may have paid a little too much, but not too over the top when I think about places like Kingsgrove

I know someone sitting on a better place not far away, but the 3 mil one is in a different , better part, lot of money there.

People throwing around millions like they're lollies.

Might be time to sell up and get out me thinks.
