Was just sent some really interesting stats on the number of apartments listed for rent in the Eastern Suburbs over time.

Really shows the impact of the lack of overseas tourists, fewer students, Airbnb properties hitting the long term rental market and also seasonality in suburbs like Bondi and Surry Hills.

This will be huge for rental yields in the east.

The tourists and students are gone and they can't come back for the foreseeable future. Even if we get this thing under control now, the rest of the world won't so our borders will remain closed. Therefore I suspect there is a significant amount of pain ahead.

Only a matter of time before this impacts on landlords and some will decide to sell.

Once in a generation buying opportunity ahead!

I've started tracking sales and rental listings in some areas of interest to me (in SA and NSW). Will be interesting to see how things change over time. I'm already seeing a huge number of new rental listings here in Artarmon. Unfortunately I don't have historic data.

Randwick's a fantastic place to live - can't get over why there's constantly so much supply.

Would be great to see if number of listings has increased by similar proportion using the same table.

Interesting that Potts Point isn't listed. There's definitely lots of AirBNB rentals there

Its become a very popular area with students and tourists priced out of the beachside suburbs, was already a huge number of Randwick vacancies prior to this unfortunately.
