Just moving the Transgrid high voltage power lines is a 18 months project in itself.

Get to know the scope it is a vastly different beast.

It looks like anyone with a food truck and a shovel and umbrella rental trailer is going to make a motza, whilst all this construction is going on...

What's wrong with Warwick Farm? It's got heavy rail, major arterial road, harbour bridge, hotels etc.. .

Is an airport (far from the CBD) really a game changer in terms of making surrounding areas 'better'?

Transport where there wasn't any, and gentrification (improving demographics and affluent residents) make a diff...but will the airport really create lasting impacts? I'm not sure.

Why is an airport even good news? Think about all of the noise

Their was nothing in the area.
    No almenties
    Minimal infra.
    Lack of commercial.

You need to read the scope of what is happening.

    It's definitely not just airport.

I'm in the area for Work and it's booming

Will it benefit the older suburbs further away though eg Penrith, Mount Druitt , Campbelltown etc?

    Yes.
Planning to extend rail to Campbeltown MacArthur region.
Employment at airport and surrounding new commercial estates.
Much better raid infrastructure which didn't exist 5 years ago and in 8 years will be years ahead if the paddock it replaced.

This is my opinion and yes I invested into the area

I’m not sold on that, though I believe st.marys will be the suburb to make the most gains from the new airport

I believe simply just the fact that employment in the area will increase drastically if noting else it great thing.

Suburbs like Liverpool,Campbelltown, Penrith among others will become small CBDs

    You should read the scope.
The rail line will go under st marys creating am interchange point but that's all.
The surrounding areas are in great positions - commercial hubs, road freight, new suburbs, business parks, uni upgrades...... the list goes. St marys is one of many to reap the rewards

Bulldozers begin major earthmoving job at Sydney's second airport site

    Scott is on site.

    All is under control

About 11,000 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase, and about 28,000 within five years of the airport's opening in 2026. The airport will become the size of Adelaide's airport, catering for up to 10 million passengers a year.

Feels like a little bribe for the councils :)

New funding to improve liveability across the new Western Parkland City

    MEDIA RELEASE

    AT001/2018

    05 September 2018

    JOINT RELEASE WITH:

    Stuart Ayres

    NSW Minister for Western Sydney
    NSW Minister for WestConnex
    NSW Minister for Sport

Eight local councils across the future Western Parkland City will share in a $150 million Liveability Program to provide high quality community infrastructure and public spaces, as part of the Western Sydney City Deal.

Federal Minister for Cities, Urban Infrastructure and Population, Alan Tudge, said the Australian Government was committed to the Western Parkland City as a centre for new jobs and industry and for providing great places to live and work as the city grows.

“The Western Sydney City Deal is an opportunity to shape the development of Western Sydney and to create and maintain a place where people want to live, businesses want to locate and tourists from across Australia and the world want to visit,” Minister Tudge said.

The Federal and State governments are each contributing $60 million with councils providing a further $30 million to the Liveability Fund to improve parks and community spaces needed for a growing population.

“We are dedicated to providing tangible benefits for the communities in Western Sydney through projects that will give our cities a sense of place and character, like bike paths, community centres and public spaces,” Mr Tudge said.

NSW Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, said the program will support the growth of the Western Parkland City, providing essential community infrastructure as communities grow.

“This funding will empower local governments to deliver local facilities to promote healthy, active lifestyles and support the arts, culture and creativity,” Minister Ayres said.

“As we realise the aspiration of a 30-minute city for Western Sydney, we are bringing people closer to jobs, education and services than ever before to ensure this growing region, its economy and its residents thrive.

“We want people already living in and moving to communities across Western Sydney to see clear and tangible benefits as our third city develops,” Mr Ayres said.

Applications are invited from the eight Councils of the City Deal: Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Penrith and Wollondilly with successful projects expected to be announced in early 2019.
