I grew up with this and always had some in the car in case of nausea you could always chew on it and it helped. I've become obsessed again with snacking on them. Anyone else like it? @Gockie @EN710 you must of had this before right?

Yes as a kid - I chose one that's covered with honey candy :p. My mum loves the thing, we called it "Kiamboi". I can't handle the sourness very well though. Have not eaten this for a long time now

Mine was the cured orange peel. The plums were bothersome with the seeds. Have you tried those? :)

We call them salted plumbs or salty plumbs. My dad told me that when I was 3 and my sister was 5, we would sneak down to the garage, take his bottles he put aside for a refund deposit, walk to the corner deli and trade the bottles for salty plums. I think we were buying the red ones, which have a different flavour to the ones you linked to but I still like both kinds.

So yeah, I like them and I still buy them when I am at Kongs.

Can you imagine now a 3 year old and a 5 year old traipsing down to the shops unsupervised? 1970's Darwin was a completely different world to what we live in now.

Just a warning that you may find them a bit of a shock if you have not eaten them before. My suggestion is to bite off a small piece and try that. That's the best way to eat them anyway. Oh, my mouth is watering like crazy now! Dammit! :D

Like @Perthguy had these as kids, both the brown and red version salty plums as well as the preserved plums

Though as per an earlier post we also ate cashews

I rememember the kind of maggots that can be in jackfruit when we open the fruit (back in Indonesia (i think we called them nangka), i don't know if they have those here. The jumping maggots version. One reason i never eat them.
