Has anyone worked with suspension ceiling before? Thinking of insulating an apartment above the ceiling, managed to take a peep up there and there’s no insulation batt at all. From the ceiling below, they look just like plaster ceiling, and above them having steels with suspended wires clipped throughout. There’s no internal manhole throughout the unit...

Been thinking it wouldn’t be hard to just climb up and lay batts all over the space but, the main concern is the load bearing of these tracks/ steels. Can I walk on them? After a bit of research, found out they are called suspension ceiling, with clips holding them up with the roof....

@ATANG - no you cannot walk on the furring channel. The underside of the roof has reflective foil and fibreglass insulation already.

You will need to put non-combustible boxes over the downlights before covering with insulation to prevent fires.

So the only way is to cut holes throughout and access them from below? That’s going to be really messy :(

As Scott has said that top layer which is shiny is the bottom of the insulation so why do you want more?
