I forced myself to read D'Paddlepops.

    Income investors are rich.

Define rich. It varies and is not necessarily about income levels.

Income Investors focus on franking credits.

Generalised bulldust - at least in my case. Dumb approach planning to live off a tax refund. As long as the dividends are not double taxed keep smiling.

    Certainly is gold.

But dangerous to invest while using it, which I have done in the distant past, with result which left me with a hangover.

Um, does that mean it doesn't?

    Ten investment rules

Yeah, I'm unbelievably bored at the moment so I've taken to searching out what some would term drivel. Then again others may claim what I post could also qualify.

Bit bored myself as some minor surgery on my arm has curtailed my activity and for that matter it’s been rain / showers for days. But hardly anything like your situation SK, no doubt it is wearing thin.

Gee, you've been having a bad trot with the medical stuff including T-bone steak withdrawl.

I'm simply frustrated. Not even supposed to drive as my insurance would be void.

And so the danger. Bored can cause one to start looking at various articles. That leads to thinking especially with financial matters. Thinking can lead to doing something totally stupid. Warning, Will Robinson!

Send rain down here if you don't mind. Dry as the witches proverbial.

I remember watching him on ABC sunday morning business show at pretty much the bottom of the GFC looking shellshocked. He was saying that buy and hold was dead, returns in the future would be nowhere near historical levels and it was a horrible time to invest. That's seared into my brain - financial commentators know nothing about where the share market will go. IF there are people who can truly beat the market long term they wouldn't want to waste time associating with me by having my capital in their fund, let alone tell me their true thoughts. If someone is that good they also don't need my piddling $25 per month subscription.

The only thing I ever read by Padley where he made some sense but somehow seemed to think this was all a fantasy was the following. Sorry Marcus those fees are not that far off zero nowadays! Seems we don’t hear you quoting what’s below anymore given it’s contrary to your business interest:
    From:
TWENTY TRUTHS ABOUT THE STOCK MARKET
Marcus's article from The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and WA News - 1st June 2013

Nice to know someone made sense of that because my brain went WTF!!?

And apologies for my moment of boredom causing derailment of the thread. Although to be fair it is also an indication as to why it is sometimes best not to read about financial stuff. So much out there in the way of conflicting and inconsistent views by various commentators. A whole group of people running from one side of a room to the other and then colliding in the middle.

Why apologise this time:D. If you and I apologised every time we derailed a thread we’d have no time for anything else:cool:.

How I cheated myself out of $17m on the sharemarket
    By Marcus Padley

    and from April 2017

In September of 2016 Mr Padley announced plans to disrupt the funds management industry and launched a pair of separately managed account strategies – one aimed at long-term growth and the other at income.

While the income fund has performed strongly, delivering a return of 6.2 per cent since inception, compared with the losses of 1.6 per cent from the benchmark ASX 200 Accumulation Index, the growth fund has proved more troublesome.

Since inception in March 2016, the fund has lost 6.1 per cent compared with the benchmark ASX 300 Accumulation Index return of 20.1 per cent leading to an underperformance of 26.2 per cent to March 30.

Mr Padley said that the fund – which started out with a mid cap focus – has been forced to change its strategy to move up the market capitalisation curve.

"We are going to have to play the benchmark game to some extent. We are not interested in taking unnecessary risks. What you have got to watch out for is the people who don't know what they are doing."

A recent quarterly update from the fund said it was making changes to the portfolio to ensure that was "hugging the index more closely". The fund charges a management fee of 112 basis points and 10 per cent of out-performance.
