    What a great thread!

As a newbie to LICs/ETFs etc. this had made for some great reading / watching

Enjoyed the Thornhill / Howard Mark videos especially, as well as Strong Money Australia

And special thanks to @Nodrog & @The Falcon for the enlightening back and forth!

Picked up Thornhill, Hill's, and Howard Mark's books, got more reading to do...

Reading 'A Blueprint to wealth' Gary Stone.

Aussie guy thats into index funds.
A lot of reseach in the one spot.
Has lots of research and comparisons on the US and aussie markets with regards to the index's. Goes through the affects of extra fees (.5%, 1% extra, etc.) on investments over long term time frames. Also under performance of index on long term returns. Interesting the difference over say 20-30yrs.
Also goes into portfolios construction. Super comparisons with industry and retail super compared to index funds.
Interesting research on market large and negative movements, coming from a different angle than the mainstream.

    Good book, enjoy.

Just be careful you don’t end up enticed into buying his trading software. Unless of course that’s what you want to do. I haven’t read the book but I’ve known of Stone for a very long time.

    I agree... caveat emptor?

"If you don’t know who I am, let me briefly explain why it’s worth listening to me at all. As I said, my name is Gary Stone and I’ve been investing in and researching the stock market since 1990. In 1998 I released a ‘mechanical investment method’ which objectively reads market signals and tells me when to buy and sell.

This method is now one of the most time-tested investing strategies on the planet. It’s demonstrated outperformance of benchmark index funds and other investing ‘experts’ by HUGE margins in DECADES of documented research. The results speak for themselves…"

Not sure if this qualifies as resource but I found this podcast interesting even though I probably didn't get quite all of it

    Thanks for the heads up.
Nah, no software for me.. I find it hard to pay for parking let a lone some trading software, lol.
With all this research i just take the bits i like and then go from there.
It's like the barefoot investor and the like, another stream of income for them with trading newletters, etc.
Still think the book is well worth the read. Shows index funds with a lot of research and comparisons.
Showed me to look at my super that averaged 9.3% over 30yrs, if it matched the index average over the same time i would have ended up with an extra 80%...

    Cheers

No books etc required. Proof is in the pudding ie real world quality data. Just a single short report needed which is free and updated twice yearly but always tells the same story for long term investors:

Actually I wrote a baby LIC pamphlet (notes really:)) quite some time ago although it amateurish, needs updating and a balanced asessment on the LIC negatives. I’ve learnt more since I first wrote it. Many here may have seen it but incase you haven’t then see attached PDF. Probably belongs in this Resource Thread anyhow.
