I read his OP in Oct 2015, I also posted in Oct 2016

I was questioning what's changed in the 3 or so years

Looks like cash has been saved which is great, but couldn't see too much mention of investing.

If it hasn't happened prior, why now?

Been made redundant has been a blessing to realise that I need to invest !

Your still looking for answers from other people, instead of finding out for yourself. Asking what to invest in, instead of this is something im looking into. No one can hold your hand.

Yeah makes sense, now you have left the corp world that was draining you, now you have the time. And fortunately the funds to do so also.
Assuming as the contracting is only potential it hasn't started, without a bit of time doing this (tax return) you will likely be limited on your borrowing.
Sounds like using your capital to invest, some would say the share market has bit of potential at the moment, others might say there is further caution.
$1M invested @ 6% yield with growth over long period.
If you're able to contract out to cover cost of living and not eat into your capital...
Sounds like you're pretty much there now

Why not learn by asking others and see what returns they are achieving ? Isn't this the purpose of this forum ?

I just bought a residential with about 13% yield, but not in Sydney

A few years ago one of my clients bought a residential property in Sydney which was about 10% yield. Wasn't commercial, but had a subdivison advantage.

no. It is not relevant to you and would be a breach of my professional duties.

It could be compared to finding $5 note on the footpath. If I tell you where I found $5 that doesn't mean you can go there and find one yourself.

I think it would be very relevant not only to me but others to share details.

I gave up on Nathan B as he also claim high resi yields yet never shares details or the numbers / assumptions.

Anyways ... I understand / respect your choice I am simply wanting to learn from others like yourself here.

There are lots of threads on locations, property types and other investments like shares. Think about what you are interested in,think about what your strategy could be and have a read. There are some nuggets when you look for them!

Agree ... I was asking for passive income ideas and when someone tells you they have achieved 13% yield ... it's worth understanding / learning about how.

I don't expect anything to come to me easy ... I am a student of life !
