An acquaintance of mine started one of these coffee vans maybe 18 months ago and is doing very well. Services some of the "cooler" spots near the city.

In many cases, it's not the coffee that his customers come for, but a quick yak.

Council regulations are another factor. You can't just set up wherever you want. From what I've seen in Melbourne, it tends to be in one of several spots and then hordes of trucks descend.

Low barriers to entry, hard to differentiate product.

I've never seen one of those coffee van's anywhere except industrial estates so I'd be looking for an edge or twist on a food type - maybe introduce po' boys, reuben's or cuban sandwiches to get the instagram generation frothing

just got my monthly spam from a business broker who specialises in hospitality,

very shocked to see approximately 20 Fleurre bakeries and about 15 muffin breaks, whilst all the other franchises had like 1-2 for sale at the most

even pie face only had 2

is there something going on at these two franchsies?

as you've said... alot of these businesses want to be sold. It's a tough game. On York St, Sydney, there are heaps of cafe vying for the workers along this street. High volume, small margins I would have thought. I also get these emails from a business brokers.
