Starting a Business

Hi All,

Looking to bring an international clothing brand to Australia.

Where would I find the best resources to do my DD and make sure I have all my bases covered I.e reading material, FP, lawyers etc.

Never done any business courses in school but I'm a quick study.

The few things I can think of are:
Have you been granted authorisation as a distributor, and not grey importing?
Are you required to sign a contract, minimum purchase quantities, access to full range?
If you do have distribution rights, what protection do you have of being offered continual rights?
Is there a pricing structure, does it reduce with quantity.
Any restrictions or requirements by the supplier?

 

The rag trade here has NO profit or margin except cheap foreign dumping at high prices due to branding that changes within weeks. They open to an ethusiastic queue to find that prices here arent cheap and customers who dont want to pay and massive rents and wages costs. I dont take on retail clients in this industry as they are a poor credit risk. They fail faster than they start.
