Like a true tragic I saw this at a midnight screening this morning. I enjoyed it as it was a lot more in the style of the original 3 movies.
    Spoiler Alert-
There was no Jar Jar Binks in this one.

I was there last night as well. Great movie, definitely worth seeing. I think Empire is still the best, but I'll give this one the silver medal.

Harrison Ford was great, probably the stand out role and I think it's the role he wanted right from the beginning. Mark Hamil does a great job delivering his lines flawlessly (despite not appearing in any trailers, he's central to the movie). Carrie Fisher does not appear in a metal bikini.

Some of the funniest scenes in the movie are delivered by the faceless Stormtroopers, Chewbacca is a close second and BB-8 third.

I predict that in a future movie, words to the following effect will be spoken: "I AM YOUR FATHER".

I saw it at midnight as well, struggling today now though. I'd say Empire and Return are the best this been the 3rd. They've set the ground work for the next ones to be even better and bolder. Loved that they didn't make the Ren guy a carbon copy of Vader and showed he had weaknesses.

Great assessment Peter. Agree entirely with your subtle observations. Very loyal to the style of the 70s/80s movies but spiced with heaps of sharp one liners scattered throughout. Even has a throwback to the good old bar scene.
Borrowed just a little from the Hunger Games in the way the hero is an empowered young female, who by the way does a great job. Gee its hard to replace Yoda and James Earl Jones as the power players though.

I really didn't like the 'Fin' character. Central to the plot, but he didn't sell his background.

He reminded me of Tracey Morgan from 30 Rock.

They have a display with some of the stormtroopers at the George St cinemas, good for a photo op.

What? Did I miss a movie between the original 'Star Wars' and this one?

My wife and I watched Attack of the Clones in 2002, while she was pregnant.

The very next day, we had our baby daughter. She is now 13. There's the bright side.

I loved it. We booked tickets ages ago for Gold Class, for this morning. Hubby got told last week that he has to work this week - so son came with me. I thought they could have made the stars in the intro into 3D though.

Just got back from our first GC experience. The movie was good, not brilliant but the way it should have been done. Perfect setup for the next one. I thought Daisy Ridley was outstanding, maybe an Oscar nominee.

Wouldn't pay for Gold Class but happy to take free tickets.
