There doesn't appear to be an active thread for food in SEQ- cafes, restaurants, eateries, etc.

I also have an ulterior motive, I'd love some great new meeting spots on the south side. Extra points for great lunch spots in Logan and Ipswich for me!

    Here's a few places I enjoy:

    Sugo Mi in Bulimba.
    Indimex in Greenslopes.
    Bleachers Burgers in West End.
    Aarth in Taigum.

+1 for Index in Greenslopes. It always tastes fresh, and they have big servings.

Also Fire and Spice (Coorparoo), if you like Indian, and Bamiyan (Camp Hill) for Aghani cuisine.

Thanks for that recommendation, I'll have to try it out. We love Afghani food.

The recommendation will very much depending on the type of Diners and Budger, but will second Indimex. It is a Indian mix with Mexican. Quite a rustic place, good for a casual dining but not corporate type of meeting. Reminds me of West End.

Other eatery around the area include East Leagues Club which is huge and serves reasonable club food. Also has live bands some nights even during the day. I was there last Friday and curious to see so many silver-haired ladies and gentlemen. Upon enquiry, it appears that they have $7.90 Roast!

If by any chance your Group is wanting Chinese food, I would suggest Sunnybank area. More authentic and you can tell by looking at who's dining there: the Chinese! :p

Afghani food sounds great, will check it out!

My fav restaurant had always been Tibetan Kitchen at West End until it closed down not long ago..

I've never been disappointed at TuTu's at Ashgrove for rich home style dinners and breakfasts.
Elixer coffee at Stafford for breakfast.
    Sushi Edo at Newmarket.
Undecided on best gyoza.. any recommendations?

If you like Tibetian, I heard someone started a "Tibetan Momo Cafe & Gifts Brisbane" at 245 Boundary Street. Check them out at Facebook. I dont do Vegan or Vegetarian so unable to vouch for you...

Crowded is where you need to go Marg. It means good taste and popular.

We went to a great little food container type place today called Hello Please - Fish Lane, South Brisbane. We had a few little share plates and was delicious - think fancy and tasty asian street food (ive never had street food like that though)

Ah, if you like Fish Lane, I am sure you will like Eat Street. If that is too crowded for you, go to Marketta at Mt Gravatt.

Sorry cant help myself, love our food here. Suddenly realised I know quite a bit about eating out LOL. Will stop hoarding this forum.

    Of course.
But in Sunnybank, all restaurants (and there must be at least 30-50) are crowded.
People need to know that they will often have to wait, or know that their preferred restaurant may be full.

    Some outside of cbd:

    Cinco (camp hill)
    Mottzerella (Hawthorne)
    Paw paw (Gabba)

Brisbane eateries are nowhere near the standard of Melbourne. Sounds snobby I know but from the places we have been it is just the lack of attention to detail. Even some of the bigger dollar dinners we have done just the fiancé and I :alchemy $500, aria $450 etc etc were not that impressive.

The one place which I was really happy with and have been 3 times now is 'moo moo steakhouse'. It's French styled restaurant, silver service type deal but amazing steaks and wine.

I'm still discovering places, only moved up here in Feb.

Sorry Tom, not aware of any good cafes or eateries in logan region
