Do you mean in Nowra specifically when you say in town?

    Hmm.
I wonder how busy the highway gets in normal peak hour now.

The highway isn't to bad during normal peak hour's. Over the holiday periods it can be extremely frustrating.

I run a business in Bomaderry and i live in Sussex Inlet so i need to travel over the bridge each day. Compared to when i lived in Sydney the traffic down here is minimal.

Argh, in holiday times it's been awful the last couple of years. A bit better now that South of Nowra and Gerringong is pretty much finished.
We were backed up bumper to bumper on the highway a couple of kms South of Nowra.
    Headed home earlier this year.

I travel south over 'the bridge' to get to work and if its around 8am it's hectic, but only Nowra-hectic. Compared to Sydney-siders we can't really complain!

Hi Pete! Have to make sure you get an invite we are talking about a catch-up for coasters.

We could, but sympathy from Sydney folk in this arena is hard to get (I've tried).

I head across town several times a week and 9am and 3:30 are the worst. Add 10 mins at least. As per above, not a big deal. But when I have sqijizillions I might build the bypass privately just for fun.

I'll pay you a $2.50 toll to travel on it.

It always tends to get a bit busy heading North at the bridge.
Always when I'm running late for the train too :)

Depends where on the south coast. I live in Shell Cove and prices have gone through the roof here. It's a great area but it's a lot of money given employment prospects in the Illawarra are pretty limited and it's not practical to commute to Sydney every day.

agreed its a long way but I meet owners and tenants doing it all the time. Mainly to southern half of Sydney not Northside or northwest but theres plenty of jobs in the southern fringe if you look I guess. Plus the basic model I see all the time is young family moves down to get affordable back yard for toddlers and beach access. Incomes are moderate as they seem to be nurses, teachers, police, local govy, or else mobile IT consultants using virtual options. The young family buys basic renovator in warilla, dapto, albion park etc, Boomer retiree grandparents also move down to be closer to the grand kids, and they end up in higher price point home in shell cove or blackbutt. Both orders (ie young family moving first or grandparents first) seem to be happening in equal proportions. THe boomers have the cash for 600-800k home with little to no debt as it is the retirement home. The young ones are mortgaging something at 400k+ and can afford if 1 good or 2 small incomes. I think this trend has steam left in it for a couple of yrs yet because the amenity is there with beaches and there are no cheaper good ones any closer so whatchagonna do?

What are peoples thoughts on the proposed council amalgamation between Shoalhaven and Kiama?

I'm not sure, you'd have to ask Mr Lindeman.
But I don't mind reading his stuff, seems a bit more level headed than some writers.

Has to be a positive, surely?
The council further South don't seem like the most competent of people, but maybe they're like everyone else, them and their friends making money.
