Yes definitely! Adelaide has lots of character. When I visit other cities they all seem a little bland in comparison.

Definitely has its pros and cons, but proud to call it home.

I have lived in Adelaide a few times over the years. I still have fond memories of cycling up the Torrens River from St Peters to Klemzig for TAFE. The old TAFE is a housing estate now!

I found Adelaide a very compact city, probably living in St Peters had something to do with that. It was good being able to cycle everywhere though because I couldn't afford a car. Loved it.

Love Adelaide for its size and pace of life. Grew up in newcastle so its like a bigger version of it.

Have lived in sydney, Detroit, Denver and London, had my fix of international big cities but happy to call Adelaide home these days

Don't become an adelaidian though! Be brave and drive more than 30min!
The state has some amazing coastlines and bush, without the crowds!

We will be in Adelaide in a few weeks after visiting the Flinders Ranges. How many days do you think we should allocate and where should we visit? I'm thinking Hahndorf, wineries, beaches, beautiful old houses and gardens. Mark likes fishing.

I like to take my time with things. The wineries would take at least a day. Flinders ranges, stay overnight at least if you are going up there. You can easily fill in a week seeing ADELAIDE.

Hands down has the best balance of quality of life and opportunities across the capitals. An affordable cost of living, small enough to allow you to spend you life with your family, not in a traffic jam. The average joe can still afford to own a property within a short distance from the beach or CBD.

Wouldn't choose anywhere else to live. :)

Is the relationship between Melbourne and Adelaide somewhat similar to Sydney & Brisbane? E.g. Sydney goes up, a decent amount of people move to Brisbane for a cheaper lifestyle or to retire.

Does the same thing happen between Mel & Adelaide? Or is it a completely different type of dynamic?

I disagree. I think Canberra blows Adelaide out of the water in terms of cost of living, liveability and opportunities.

I live roughly the same distance from work in Adelaide as I did in Canberra. In Canberra it may have taken me 10 to 15 mins to get to work, no traffic to speak of. In Adelaide same trip takes me 45 to 60 mins... sitting in bumper to bumper traffic the whole time. Everyone talks about Adelaide having no traffic.. its horrendous.

Houses are generally cheaper in Adelaide for outer suburbs, but anything in a desirable area is quite expensive... rents are generally cheaper though. Food, utilities and general cost of living I find much more expensive than Canberra.

Jobs, and in particular well paying careers, are much harder to come by and are generally lower paid.

I do love Adelaide though. Love its old houses and character buildings... and love living near the beach.

Interesting how South Australia makes a big thing out of Silo Art. It is only copying Vic and WA. If you want to see the worlds largest outdoor art gallery go to Victoria. There is a lot of Silo Art painted by Street artist. Silo Art Trail

Totally agree as some of my Adelaide colleagues have said the same and also my Tassy colleagues as well. They tell me that they can also afford to do two overseas trip per year with paying their PPOR and investment portfolio!

I've got lots of family in Adelaide..been there many times....it just feels good as a town.

I love all the old architecture, the planning, beaches, wine and food!

    It's affordable too.

    Many, many happy memories there....

If we weren't so settled up here we'd move there in a heartbeat....depending on work of course!
