It looks like it’s better for WA’s economy to stay shut after seeing the results of other borders opening. I don’t mind living in a bubble until there is higher vaccination rates. I get my booster late this month and my kids early next month. I know a lot of people choose to not get vaccinated at all but I would feel more comfortable if it was delayed a bit longer.

Well its a small sample and probably means nothing but one careful and overly cautious friend I know had the unfortunate luck of contracting COVID around Xmas. Went right through his whole family of 4. A couple of them had mild symptoms for 3 days or so, the other 2 were hit harder - fever, bad sore throat, coughing. They were all fully vaccinated.

So the vaccinated are potentially going to cop it as well....maybe not severe disease but a high proportion of the older folks succumbing in NSW are fully, if not triple vaxxed.

I guess what I'm implying is that if the State is more or less fully vaxxed, delaying opening up is basically delaying the inevitable. They've had ample time to prep their hospitals for this day.

Maybe Mark knows something we don’t? I know quite a large community not getting fully vaxed as they are doubting Covid is real and choosing to pray instead, and/or leaving it up to god to decide if this is how the world will end. COVID-19 Coronavirus: Vaccination dashboard

Just spoke to a colleague in India. Apparently India is now having Deltacron...

The faster we have cures, the better.
It's ok if WA closes up for now, we should have cures coming up but it's still a few months away.

I think returning citizens of the state should be allowed back though. Residents should not be facing the prospect of being homeless just because there were no flights in a timely manner available (it really wasn't reasonable to expect).

"God gave us lungs to breathe!!" says the Prayer.

"We know and we're trying our darnedest to keep them functioning," says the doctor.

I’m not game to leave the state. I even tried to talk my friend out of a quick visit to Brisbane before Xmas recently. She was lucky to get one of the last flights back before border shut.

It shouldn't be this way. Give people a fair opportunity to get back at least. Need money like Djokovic and have a court hearing.... if anything this is unconscionable.

Ditto Anastacia for Queensland for a very loooonnnnggg time....

This I have found fascinating. 21st century with the best technologies human has ever had, yet we still have people from stone age thinking just pray to the sun and moon and life will be ok. :(

Yes it’s pretty concerning to me what other people think! I’ve fallen out with the family members who believe this so I don’t need to worry about contact there. I had another person visit last week and as they were leaving they told me they were limited on where they could go as they don’t believe in the vaccination. Another person has invited me over this week who is antivaxer, doesn’t even vax her dog. What do you say? No thanks! ??

I had 3 jabs. Who knows, next time I might turn into a Marvel movie monster, buy real estate non-stop... IP Man, not the kung-fu one... :D

NBN was scheduled for today. He wouldn't provide proof of vax², I refused entry. I guess that I'll have ASDL for a while longer.

We lived like this for well over a year in Queensland.
Not game to leave as no confidence we could return.
The last border closure was done with 2 hours notice, stranding interstate Queenslanders for months.

The problem is socially we're too forgiving of it. When someone says they're an anti-vaxxer, we smile politely and laugh on the inside. We should feel confident about laughing at them on the outside. The politeness empowers them.

Bruny oysters OMG absolutely divine! Absolutely not the worst place to be stuck...unless it's long term, then things will start to get expensive.
