No, thats not the case unfortunately. Throughout European countries female monarchs prior to The Age of Enlightenment exercised their divine right given by god with same brutality as men.
Blinded by religiosity there has been no limit on the evil committed by either sex.

I watch a lot of USPGA Tour Golf on the teev (pre-recorded of course so as to filter out the lovely ads that god created).

    Thankyou god for Foxtel IQ.

It amazes me how many blokes win, and then thank god first in their speech...

Um; how about your wife and kids and family, your coach, your support team?

    HAHAHAHA

    Wow

Even at bible college they are like: we dont know who wrote nearly all of these books in the bible. Matthew wasnt written by Matthew etc.... in fact it looks like all the gospels were just copied with different copying errors from the one "q" gospel.

And thats what a Baptist Bible College teaches.... lol trustworthy historical document... thats good haha

    Case in point;

My PIL's (who live 50 mins drive from us) go to church every Sunday morning without fail...MIL is on a walking frame these days, and plays the victim card on that one big time (another story), but can still drag herself to the car for church....

Last saturday; took our two littler kids to the local swimming pool right near their home for the arvo....water slide, big splash and slide set-up; really good...worth the drive for us occasionally.

Wife (their daughter) calls ahead to tell the PIL's that if they would like to catch up with their grandchildren; we will be at the local pool all arvo; would you like to come over?

(Keep in mind these PIL's rarely see the grand kids due to distance and general lack of involvement with all 3 of our kids, and the pool is about a 4 min drive from their house)

So anyway; their response was; "It's a bit too hot to travel - why don't you come around to our house after the pool?".

Now; after 5 hours in the sun, last thing you want to do is drive 4 mins, unload the kids again, hang out at their place for 30 mins or so (and is dead-boring for them), and then have to load them into the car again for the almost hour drive back home.

So; no effort made, no visit to see the kids - but can always get to the church.

A lot of folk's religion is a badge.

My folks are Christian. But they are the sort of progressive supportive christians who athiests wish all christians were like.

Contrary to your example theyd go way out their way to spend time with family.

"When did atheists become so teeth-gratingly annoying? Surely non-believers in God weren't always the colossal pains in the collective backside that they are today?

Surely there was a time when you could say to someone "I am an atheist" without them instantly assuming you were a smug, self-righteous loather of dumb hicks given to making pseudo-clever statements like, "Well, Leviticus also frowns upon having unkempt hair, did you know that?"

These days, barely a week passes without the emergence of yet more evidence that atheists are the most irritating people on Earth.

Atheists online are forever sharing memes about how stupid religious people are.

Atheists in the public sphere spend their every tragic waking hour doing little more than mocking the faithful. In the words of Robin Wright, they seem determined “to make it not just uncool to believe, but cool to ridicule believers”. To that end if you ever have the misfortune, as I once did, to step foot into an atheistic get-together, which are now common occurrences in the Western world, patronised by people afflicted with repetitive strain injury from so furiously patting themselves on the back for being clever....

How atheists became the most colossally smug and annoying people on the planet – Telegraph Blogs

A religious person complaining about the zeal of atheists? That has to be irony for the ages.

'of the ages'. I'm not religious. I just don't feel the need to criticise those who are. I don't use 'atheism' as an excuse to belittle and mock others just so that I can puff myself up in an attempt to feel superior.

Religions are not a destination, they are a tool for seeking a higher truth within yourself. Since all humans are seeking the same truth why is there a need to judge the path that another person chooses?

Yep; me in a nutshell!! :p (probably Tim86 as well!)

    But; I can justify my smugness and disdain easily;

    I help people.
    I am generous.
I spend lots of time with my kids outdoors at the park, the beach, the movies, riding bikes, playing Minecraft, or golf - and not sitting on a cold hard wooden bench every weekend, boring the hell out of my kids reading novels and singing boring songs and wasting a whole morning...or several sessions per day for some other Religions.
I haven't killed or tortured anyone in the name of something mythical.
I respect women and support their freedom to wear whatever they like, go wherever they like, speak to whoever they like.
I don't go knocking door to door to force my beliefs on others.
I do not try to change everyone to my point of view about my religion - just ridicule those who bring it up is enough fun.
I am not a hypocrite - pledging love and devotion and espousing goodness and all that to a god in prayer and in Church, but then go about my normal day-to-day life being the opposite in numerous ways.

Religious folks often have this belief that you have to be religious to be a good person, and want to shove it down everyone's throat, and often criticise and look down at those who are not religious; and therefore an inferior example of god's work to be pitied and helped.

I think that is just as - if not more - annoying than being an Atheist who is doing lots of good things, and leaving everyone else alone.

I think the energy and effort by Atheists put into ridiculing the Faithful is far, far outweighed by the Faithful's efforts put into converting others/persecuting others' religions and espousing what they believe in to anyone they come into contact with.

Atheists are the "sleeping bear"...just leave us alone and you won't get a swipe..

Religious folks are some of the most critical folks in history - and it's a massive hypocrisy.

That's why they cop a serve.

They can't have it all their own way.
