Hi all, can anyone please recommend a good solicitor/conveyancer in Sydney? Looking to purchase in the South West.

    Cheers.

I've used Jenny from The Conveyancing Shop for more than one purchase and she was excellent. Tell her Aaron sent you- (02) 9410 3722.

I would not recommend this person & better off with a solicitor (or at least one in house) not a one man band.

This question seems to come up a fair bit - if you do a quick search you should find some previous recommendations.

    Cheers

It is hard to recommend too, lot of variety price and skill wise, depends also on buyers skill/knowledge as to whether one is acceptable or not, not unlike insurance, usually you wont know how good they are unless something goes wrong, or you know the process well and can identify the errors.

I regularly pick up errors - never in my favor mind you, I have also had to deal with some that are totally unprofessional as well as making lot of mistakes.

Try and use solicitors if you can, many times they do not even charge more, one of the cheapest I ever used years ago was exceptional at his job. Can save you money too sometimes.

They have an in house Lawyer, and it is not a one man show.

Why do you recommend against using them?

Jenny is in fact herself a solicitor, I have used her and she is like you say very good. Ignore this guy he is always making ridiculous statements that he is never able to back up or justify.

I have quite a few reasons. One I believe is it is a one man band, while people may have relationships with others in the same field, that is not the same as 3 or 6 staff under the same roof.

Maybe they have changed, I would still not use them for various other reasons. It is not one minor thing either.

If the OP wants to know, they can ask by PM.

Very happy with Sophie Letherbarrow for our NSW purchases.
Very informative, great communication skills, dealt directly with clients and reasonable price.

Well, is not about me not liking anyone , I am purely talking of business transaction, I think that is fair enough to point out.

I do see that most people only mention one name still.

But here is another review and seems to be of a second shop, maybe they are a franchise ?

There are two locations, Chatswood and Baulkham Hills. They are independant but use the same name. Both have solicitors as their principals... Chris Battye in Chatswood and Jenny Gentles in Baulkham Hills.

If you are complaining about a bad experience with a Jenny who is not a solicitor at Chatswood.. then its not the Jenny at Baulkham Hills. She bought the business from Neala Fraser who was a conveyancer then solicitor at the Chatswood office then opened the Baulkham Hills location about 8 years ago.

I have dealt with both for over 12 years, including Henry Packham, a solicitor with decades experience, who works out of Chatswood in his own practice but provides specialist property and commercial work to Conveyancing Shop as needed.

I know nothing of the place using the same name at Chatswood, was the Hills location.

Well it has picked up a good 7% in a lot of places from what I see, and it may be for a home, not IP, but even if IP, there is a lot still buying them, I guess they did not ask if buying x, y or z was a wise choice :)

Wasn't the phone number a giveaway?

I am talking about the Chatswood location. I know nothing about the one you're talking about.

I recommend Rose Conveyancing at Blacktown.

Any feedback from PC on them?
