Same as the GFC money. It's not really free money, as you're just diluting the pool of money, but that's not how most people perceive it and given that perception is more important than reality, it would get most people spending, at least a bit.

I got another one: Make all public transport able to take paywave payments from any credit card! Such a pain that there's so many different systems around the country.

Spludgey would it be fair to say a likely outcome would be a boost in spending, a slight sugar hit to asset prices, followed by the perception of a material decline (as the reality of the average back pocket catching up to the notion of free money)?

I understand QE is coming as we are following the playbook laid out by other debt laden economies, but I fail to see how it delivers any meaningful outcome besides a tourniquet to the current slide is assets and spending.

I'm visiting Melbourne later in the year and I have a Melbourne Miki card as well as my Brisbane one. I was thinking the same thing just yesterday.

    Shouldn’t be too hard.
You just use the same e-tag for tolls in at least 3 states.

Rents will be capped at max 2% of value.
There will be set times when you're allowed to turn on Aircon or Heating.
All thermostats in capital cities will be fixed at max19C in winter and min28C in summer.
Tenants may not be evicted unless they have a place to go sorted out.

All property ownership will be switched to a 99yr lease, after which it becomes state owned.
All houses with empty bedrooms will be required to house the elderly, homeless and refugees.
There will be no empty housing. All must be utilised.
Cars will be phased out and capital cities will only have public transport by 2025.
Only electric cars will be sold by 2040 unless for industry or agriculture.
Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

And yet much of that is already happening in "first world countries" and most of it is being proposed in many nations around the world.
    So I'm going populist.

I can see some merit in your list. Those people who got sucked into buying several seriously overpriced IPs in mining towns would love to have them given to the poor. As long as the mortgage gets confiscated too :)

I'd have thought that after 51 posts that someone would've called for 12 months conscription for anyone between 18 and 65 (excluding those that are disabled).... apparently not.

At least we won't know the fallout of such a suggestion.

As I'm not particularly predisposed to being beaten to death with a wet lettuce, and not wanting to inhibit anyones' military service, or lack of, perhaps a program of inclusiveness could allow such things as, but not limited to, drone control, infantry, nuclear code utilisation, air and naval power control, administration and general duties.

Hopefully this addresses your, and possibly the Greens, discrimination issue.
