@willair I've enjoyed reading over the old site as well, there's just something nice about reading what real life people are doing within this country. Reading a self-help book can at times be hard to relate to, therefore making it more difficult to retain that information.

Great advice, may I ask what book you're referring to?

@Jess Peletier Great question. For the past two years, I've been doing an array of things to keep the money flowing. Renting rooms out privately paid for all my living expenses (most important), developing websites for startups brought in sporadic small lump sums (easy work from home), buying anything I can that I can easily on sell for a profit i.e cars (my passion).
I also had a decent amount of savings when I called it quits.
Once you've automated the income that pays your survival expenses, the rest is just a bonus.
Having lived in the middle of nowhere for years with a decent income (once I became a tradesman) I decided I'd rather live somewhere more pleasant on less money - while I'm young.
Moving forward, I'm now getting back into the market to buy, renovate and rent/sell to expand my portfolio.

Did not have to resort to selling drugs either. This often blows people's minds to see someone my age who doesn't go to a job each day.

@Jess Peletier Forgot to mention, all this started after reading 'The 4-hour work week' by Tim Ferris. That book changed everything for me, I implemented the strategies immediately. Have you read it?

We'll probably have one on the Gold Coast mid September or thereabouts.

No I haven't but I know the concept. Awesome effort - being free to pursue work that doesn't feel like work is the best thing ever.

It's a rare few that can find that with an employer.

    What about mine?

I keep changing mine every few weeks and never get any feedback from anyone!

I am trying to beat the record for the "most avatar changes on PC in a year".

Who is the current record holder? Let me think!!!

Yeah, I took that photo when I was doing a bike ride in Laos earlier this month. I came across three boys collecting Lotus fruit in a waterhole by the side of the road. I quickly stopped and snapped this shot.

Luckily I had bought the new lens in Cambodia as I could zoom in and capture the moment.

Thanks for the compliment. I normally only take photos for my own pleasure. It is only recently that I have decided to share some of them with PC members via my avatar.

    Good on you.
Which suburb was the Gold Coast property?
Where are you looking in Brisbane?
It's much easier when you're local.

@Azazel Thank you :) Tugun, however not under the flight path as that is the common theme for most properties in the suburb. 500m to the beach and no chance of being over-built like Surfers or Southport, thanks to air space building height restrictions.
Predominately in an 8-12km radius of the CBD, northern side of the river preferably. Kedron has a lot of old charmers crying out for renovation. The north-east side has a lot of old properties on large blocks with subdivision potential.
May I ask you where you started investing originally? Is Brisbane proving fruitful for you, investing-wise?

    Hi, New here too.
My goal is to have more time with my family due to a passive income.
My advice to 18yr old Adam... be confident - don't be afraid of what others think or of others telling you you'll fail.
    All the best :)
