Looks like the weather isn't co-operating - not much snow and rain about - still can be a bit of fun though.

If it's your first time u don't necessarily need to buy a lift ticket - just hire the skis and try to figure it out on the flat or very slight slope. They do this for beginner lessons - before u even go on a lift - u need to be able to stand up and move yourself along - oh and stopping is kind of important too - ski tips together and make a pizza wedge shape (aka snow plough)

Mmm speaking of pizza, that's where I'd be - ordering a wood fired pizza sitting next to the (separate) open fire at Mario's Mineshaft restaurant in Jindy.

Back to tickets, both resorts have a "there's hardly any snow special" Thredbo is $49 whereas Perisher looks to be $89. Thredbo also has cheaper lift lesson and equipment hire deal.

That's a nice little spot, haven't been there for years.
Hope the rain held off this morning.

It's cloudy in Canberra, and there hasn't been any rain, though the rain radar indicates that's going to change soon.

we managed to spend time in the gardens and then some of the interesting shops surrounding and just as we finished the rain came so just in time.

Today we're gonna look around Thredbo maybe do some tobogganing and beginner ski classes. Also the Lantern Apartments are very comfortable!

Did you sit down with your calculator and do some feasibility studies on the cockington houses ;) brush up on those skills. Personally i think they over capitalised and really targeted to a niche client

A good point @bob shovel - but one must be careful. There are reports that some houses in the immediate area have not yet been certified for human habitation.

@Leo2413 I hope the detour was worth your time.

@bob shovel No business on a trip! :p

@geoffw Definitely worth it mate. We also saw some art at The Framers that the wife was keen on so on the way back we may go and make a purchase. The walk in aviary was as also simple but very nice.

Hi mate, no devonshire tea but we had heaps of fun on the rented toboggan sled down the snow. Then had a nice spa and massage. tomorrow hopefully doing some skiing also taking the chairlift up the mountain to a nice restaurant. Been a super relaxing time so far :)

Thanks for the heads up on Black Ice, I had to look up what it is. Yes there is some chatter of a possible snow fall overnight so fingers crossed. We're here till Wednesday so even then might be a skiing possibility.

You lucky bugger, wish I was there. I'll cross everything for plenty more snow :)
