That's awesome info thanks! I think we will just wake up extra early to fit in 2 of those places along the way.

    Cheers

HAHA. You will see the jackets everywhere but at that price they are more than good value.

I know....:( but its the most convenient time for us to go.. We will also spend some time in Canberra so hopefully the overall trip will be good. We are not ski fanatics so if we get on a ski for like a few hours I'm sure that's enough for us, its also the stuff in the surrounding areas that we want to visit. But getting out of Sydney will be a huuuge plus for us!

Hey @Leo2413, I've just spent a month at Perisher Valley and Thredbo for work.

Sounds like you've got all the details sorted so not much to add regarding accommodation from me.

Consider walking to Mt Kosciuszko - it's a grated walkway from the top of the chair lift all the way to the summit. Very easy walk in autumn, so shouldn't be too difficult in winter if the weather permits.

    Lake Jindabyne is beautiful,

as is the drive up though Crackenback to Thredbo.

Bear in mind that you enter/exit the Kosciuszko national park when heading up to Thredbo and there is an entry fee. Check with your accommodation about shuttle service etc and costs.

And to totally hijack the thread, here are some more happy snaps of Perisher Valley and Thredbo:

The only way to debrief after a hard day's work...

We bought some new gear from Aldi mainly for the kids who love skiing. We plan to go late August and probably settle on perisher. I still miss Lake Tahoe!

Did ya? December? We were there for Christmas week and the snow was sooooooo awesome! Our deck was covered with snow about a 1.5m tall! Best snow we've seen.

A bit early in my opinion. I think you can check via snow cam. August would be good. Of course weather can be freaky too.
