hehe.. well we don't 'do' either, as in have any degree of proficiency. We love ice skating though and do that regularly in Sydney so hopefully we will mange to not make complete fools of ourselves on the snow.:D

My wife has already said every time she falls, its one Black Cross for me and when I reach 10 well.....

Tell her she just has to read Skater's tagline....

Just don't wear jeans on the snow - that's an instant 10 black crosses.

thanks mate. I think long, warm tights should do the trick! :)

Jeez the more we speak about it here the more excited I am getting. I relay all this great feedback to her and she is also counting down the days. We really need a break so this will be great.

I assume you're driving and not talking the private jet for this trip ;) but the scenic route going down or coming back could be good if you have time. (Haven't done all of it myself) from syd going over the blue mountains and down through jenolan to goulban then back on the highway. Nice scenic drive, does add time but autumn is nice up the blue mtns . Do a Google to confirm before going

Cool, it's worthwhile going on the little beginner slope to practice in the morning.
Otherwise it can be a long day.

@Leo2413 From Sydney the best route is the quickest route on the Hume then through to Cooma/Jindabyne. Anything else away from this will add considerable time without much benefit. What I would say is that if you have a couple of days extra you should go back via the Snowy Mountains Hwy through to the Sapphire Coast. I live in Bermagui which is about 2.5hrs from the snow. Shout you a coffee in the best coastal town in Australia ;)

Thats the way. Stay away from the other suggested route as there are some pretty ordinary roads through there.

It's a bit difficult to see the way this suggests through Canberra. The Monaro Highway link to the Federal Highway has just been completed, allowing you to bypass Canberra completely free of road work (at least on the south end, I'm not quite sure further north). An older GPS may not pick this up.

@geoffw is that what your suggesting?

Although having said that... I was thinking to stop here along the way...which would mean I need to enter Canberra

    That's what I was suggesting.

Cockington Green isn't bad; it's also near the Gold Creek shopping area (which has a reptile museum and walk in aviary), George Harcourt Inn and the national dinosaur museum. It's a little more out of your way than other attractions- but it's pretty fast still going from anywhere to anywhere in Canberra.
