    Anyone here obsessed with ski-ing?
These snowfalls BEFORE the opening weekend are quite amazing - I have never seen anything like it.
The ski.com.au forum is very excited by it all.

Latest thread on the current system , which is dumping...

We are heading across to Auckland to ski this year - first half of July.

Picked up some good airfares and thought we would give it a try.

Won’t be the the right move if it is a boom year here.

Anyone done the fields out of Auckland before ?
Only got the airfares organised so far.

Are there fields out of Auckland? I would’ve thought the South Island is the place for skiing.

I think Tonibell is thinking of the mountains in the centre of the North Island at Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro - not exactly "out of Auckland" ... more like a half-to-full-day drive

You may have to travel to find snow on the north island,we have been in Queenstown for several days now and there is very little snow yet only the first day we came middle of last week ..
There was a small amount falling at 4 this morning while walking along the lake, and from every business i have talked too they need the snow as when it comes so does the massive cashflow into this town..

They were predicting snow in Qld this morning. Ok, southern Granite Belt, but it made headlines last night on TV

Sydney-siders only need to catch a train to Katoomba to get to the snow today!

I'd say they've fallen off completely. We're down in the valley and doubt we'll get out of **feels like** mid-single digits today

There are ski fields about 4 hours out of Auckland on an active volcano (Mt Ruapehu) - apparently it is pretty good. Really we just got some great fares to Auckland.

Did you go to Queenstown planning to ski ? Seems a bit early for it.

The j2ski.com forecast for Mt Ruapehu has 62cm in the next 7 days - so hopefully a good season.

We’ve just changed our plans and will fly up to Queenstown.

Seems a lot simpler and we have another group we are going to link up with.

You sill up there @willair ?
