i have just started using a Sleep Apnea machine... Terrible thing... But i have lost sleep due to waking up lost in breath ./ not breathing.

Mostly sleep apnea hits you around middle age .

If you are tired during the day or dozing off it maybe worthwhile getting a sleep test done, around $900 at a sleep clinic.

Machines start at about $1500 plus.

If you dont do anything you could die of stroke etc.. I think this is how many die in their sleep.
The mask is a nuisance. But i got used to wearing it.

My brother in law has one too and it's improved his lifestyle.
I can sleep through an earthquake, I wake up 5 minutes later and it's morning

    Jealous.
I can't get to sleep, I don't stay asleep, and I wake up early.
When I am asleep, my phone rings or my kids cry.

Many guys cant get use to the mask... Even myself .. Sleeping normally on my side now is difficult with this oxygen machine.

I do feel better in the mornings though.
My doctor has suggested i lose about 8 kg and i may be better but if course Apnea doesnt inly affect those overweight.

It is however a major contributing factor to sleep apnea and a number of other conditions.
The benefits of a healthy body composition/weight are broad.

Is it like the ones the fighter pilots wear? Or one of the newer low profile masks?

I popped a sleeping pill once, slept like a baby. But the next morning I woke up with the most terrible headache. Don't worry the pill was prescribed lol.

These days , some hot milk and honey makes for a good night sleep.

If you got a spare 8kg of fat to lose, you really should lose it.
It's not benefiting you in any way.

I'm just about to start a triplex development and approached the neighbour to ask if she's received a letter from Essential Energy for the power outage required to hook up my supply. The whole street has to be turned off for the connection. She said she has just gone onto a machine for sleep apnea and is apparently on their register for such situations where there are power outages so she can be notified that she won't have power to run her equipment. Nice to know that these folk are being considered.
