We have not been to Cortina yet probably get there on Friday - I think one of the unique features of Hakuba is having so many resorts to go to. Skiin-ski out might limit that.

We are doing an Airbnb house both for the budget and the space. We went to an
Onsen at Happo tonight and was tempted by the hotels there with onsens included.

Skiing all done and heading home tomorrow.

Did not get to Cortina and only went to the Hakuba Valley Resorts - Happo x 2, Goryu x 2, Iwatake x 2 and Tsugaike.

Also missed the Snow Monkeys - which was suppose to be unmissable but skiing took over.

No real crowds the whole time although parking at Happo was a little challenging today.

Pretty sure we will be back next year.

I lived in Japan for 13 yrs. My recommendation is:
From Osaka, half-day go to Kyoto, half-day Nara. Both are 1 hour from Osaka and from each other as well.

Kyoto- see Golden temple and Kiyomizudera
Nara- Walk to big Buddha temple through deer park and go to tea garden (great for photos)

Osaka- see Osaka Castle and Universal studios -1 day

Hiroshima/ see bomb dome and memorial- 1/2 day. Use bullet train. You may be able to buy train pass from australia... may be cheaper to buy from here than buy in Japan- that’s done to encourage tourism

Let me know if you have specific questions.

—- just noted that I am late in relying. I will leave the comment in the hope that it may be useful to someone else or for future
