    Currently on the last day of my holiday and was interested to read in the newspaper about the complicated tiered FHB grant system that operates in Singapore.

    Grants appear quite generous and reduce on a sliding scale based on income.

    It's just interesting to see what governments do elsewhere.

    Being from Singapore myself,
    I'd like to just chime in and say your allowed to pay for your own house through your Superannuation fund.. up to a certain % if I'm not wrong.

    You do have to return that amount to the fund plus a fixed rate of interest or capital gains when you sell the house though.

    However due to the massive income disparity that exists there, investment properties are almost non existent to the average Joe.
